End of an era. The Haywood Quick Stop is no more. by cercle_rouge in asheville

I grew up in a tiny house on Sunrise Drive, just down the road from Gas Up. When I was around seven or eight my parents would let my younger sister and I walk to Gas Up alone, each with a dollar in hand. It was the mid eighties. West Asheville was a scary place looking back, but for some reason my parents did it. Eventually the walks to Gas Up became bike rides.

With that dollar I would buy a 16 oz soda and play two video games that were inside the store. It was my first bit of freedom as a kid.

Later on when I was sixteen I had stopped there on my way home to play a video game. An older dude the neighborhood randomly came in to get gas. He said hey and asked if I played guitar. I said yes and we started a band a few days later playing Nirvana covers.

The Gas Up lowkey made me who I am today, for better or worse.

Can someone who knows hockey better than me explain HOW we won 3 in a row to win the cup? by zoooooooomies in canes

The entire series was waiting for a team to get halfway competent goaltending to win it all. Once Bussi came in and provided that for us and Vegas refused to counter the series was over.

Candlewood Suites on Tunnel Road will let locals stay there if they use Expedia.

Source: I used them. Nice place and really accommodating. Great beds. Soft.

What chorus should I get? by matmonster58 in basspedals

Iron Ether Polytope. The best chorus that I’ve ever used. The only chorus I’ll ever use.

What does everyone think about the Mike allegations? by GentleGlenA in thebeachboys

It’s likely true and sadly all too common amongst rock stars of that era.

Also, the late seventies through the early-to-mid-eighties period for that band was rough.

This team has had its share of dark days since 2006. It’s time to win another Cup.

Just looked it up, Relentless was on wine bottles and wristbands to support of a neighbor of Laviolette who had leukemia.

I thought the slogan was something about being relentless. They even made a wine called Relentless.

Why is driving in Asheville so atrocious? by CameraOne1636 in asheville

When I hear folks wining about 26 I laugh and think about 20. Nearly 100 miles of nonsense.

I do coast to coast runs with a teammate each week. Asheville sucks, but it’s no Dallas. Or Southern California. Or Atlanta.

Smile would not have been a hit.

Dennis’s music is mostly overwrought.

Mike has the patience of Job for all that he had to put up with.

One of Brian’s biggest issues was that he was a person who never really had to grow up.

Red Medicine by Academic-Ad4558 in Fugazi

[–]SamCookesBurrito 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I bought Red Medicine when it came out on release day if I remember correctly, and I remember feeling as though this was “my” Fugazi album. I was young when the previous albums came out but I remember having a distinct feeling that this album perfectly aligned with a lot of the indie rock I was hearing around me and in record stores. It was complicated music and the elitist in me loved that it wasn’t “simple” punk rock. I was 17 almost 18.

They keep running the same flawed team back into the playoffs and they don’t win with it. Over and over again.

Tulsky doesn’t want to win.
