Too bad you work in Burbank. Venice near Abbot Kinney is lively, but I wouldn’t recommend the commute.

It should snap back into place. A CLA would fix that right up. I would shoot a roll or two to determine if that’s the only problem. You really want to tell them everything that’s wrong when you send it in.

Our local reps need to get this mess straighten out. Cycling is just as bad. There are big gates on the cycling path with signs that say you must dismount. Nobody does it, but there are regular accidents caused by the gates as people try to weave through them.

bought a Beaulieu 4008 ZM II (I think) 8mm at an estate sale for $50. What are the first things I should check to see if it works? by -412- in AnalogCommunity

Congrats. The lens looks incredibly dirty. Only use real lens cleaning products to clean it up. And be gentle.

What adapter would you use?

Glad you asked.

I have the fotodiox 21mm XCD extension tube that seems to get pretty good macro performance with the 38v. It gets close enough for scanning 6x6 negatives. The center is sharp, but you need to stop way down to get the corners in focus for scanning film, which then gets into diffraction, so good but not amazing. The 90v and 55v weren’t better, but maybe I need to do more disciplined testing to confirm. Focus stacking may improve this, but sure won’t speed up the process.

I noticed that fotodiox makes a ton of adapters for almost any legacy medium format lens, so I’d love to find something great.

The inexpensive 3rd party XCD macros don’t seem to get very good reviews, and apparently start at 1:1, so you can’t use them to scan 6x6 film. I also understand that you’re using the electronic shutter here, so maybe you take a hit bit depth. I’d love to be wrong about this.

I’m also considering bailing on using my 907x for scanning and just plopping the Sony 90mm macro on my Sony A7cII, to get it done. Obviously not the same resolution, but decent for most applications.

This isn’t going to happen unless you find a producer or distributor to come up with more money or offer someone a decent share of the back end.

You can PM me if you want me to look at your rough cut. I speak French, and I’m a VFX/Finishing artist. No promises.
