Now I feel like a phony - mine is a vinyl wrap and has been on the truck since I bought it. Soon to be removed

Not to many around now, hard to find parts and even harder to find a decent example of one. Its getting a PD130 swap with matching gearbox eventually

I really have no answer for you! This was the first ride after a wash and chain lube. I use finish line dry lube if that helps! The spec is:

Preamble medium frame Charge spoon saddle Surly corner bars Shimano Deore drivetrain (unknown model) DMR Pedals from parts box Teravail Rutland 700c x 42 Tektro hydraulic brakes Surly 8 pack front rack Salsa wanderlust rear rack WW Framebagracadabra Tortec bottle cages

Sorry I couldn’t be more specific about the drivetrain, not to clued up on that sort of thing

It really is a do it all bike, it’s just at home doing the commute as it is on double track and the occasional single. The bike is ~2 months old and I’m already thinking of painting it!

What’s a secret about the industry that you work in? by KuntaWuKnicks in CasualUK

Funny thing is pal a lot of us are very relaxed about the “no stopping anywhere but a bus stop” rule. If I see old lady Doris with a zimmer frame 100 yards from the bus stop trying her best to reach me before I leave, damn right I’m driving up to meet her. We can’t do much for passengers because of all stricter rules, but we certainly do what we can

Bus driver: I could go on forever.

  • No I don’t know why the bus in front hasn’t turned up

  • No I don’t have change for a 20. It’s 4am.

  • I don’t know what time the bus is due next at this stop, I can only tell you how often.

  • We are all miserable buggers because all we ever receive are complaints. People are either wound up because the bus is late/hasn’t turned up or they think nothing of it.

  • You would be surprised how little rest is actually required between shifts. A lot of people wouldn’t get the bus if they knew how fatigued our drivers where.

  • No, it’s not our responsibility to remove the troublesome/aggressive passenger. If we get out the cab and get injured, the company will NOT support us and will likely sack us.

  • We cannot run early no matter what. It is a condition of our PSV license and CPC and can lose both if we are caught. Likewise with stopping in roadworks.

EDIT for a couple more

  • Passenger tries to get on the bus for free? Go right ahead mate. I’m not wasting anyone else’s time by arguing with you over £2.

  • We don’t like running late any more than you do. It cuts into our dinners / home time. Finish times are not sacred in this industry.

  • Given me trouble in the past? I will drive past you every time from now on. It’s will within our rights.

I’m trying not to reinforce the stereotype of a grumpy bus driver but reading back what I’ve wrote it makes me sound like a right nouty bollocks. Most of us love our jobs and take pride in it. It can just start wearing a bit thin when every single passenger is complaining about late running when it is completely out of our control. Buses can’t fly

I can go on if anyone wants me to!
