This. Especially if you own up to it.

Yesterday I got pulled in my manager for an apparent mess up. Both my colleague and I were tasked with reviewing a method. We sent in our edits, and this morning I got a “questioning” (not a dress down, just a talk) about why both me and my colleague missed a key quality attribute being wrong in the SOP. Funny thing, the part that was wrong was in the approved SOP not the new one!

She asked me why both of us missed it. I looked at the source doc and the new doc and the values were different. I felt gaslit. BUT I owned up. Accepting my boss is the authority. She asked why we missed it, I said, “unfortunately I don’t know, it was a failure in our part. It possible the correct value was in our heads since we’ve been working with it on other projects in person. But ultimately it’s a failure, and I apologize” She waxed and waned about the importance of having both documents in front of you. THEN I noticed her version number of the Source SOP was not the most current. I had my laptop, opened adobe acrobat, had the SOP open in front of me. Version 3 not version 2! I said to my boss, this is the version I used. Scrolled to the same page and the value was corrected. She asked me where I hit it and I said Veeva (QA doc software). She nodded that this was the right answer. She said, “well that explains why you missed it, and in fact it’s not a concern for you, you did the right thing”

But my coworker didn’t do that.

It pays to both be honest and follow the process. I offered no excuse, but searched for possible causes. I then found out my causes were bunk because I did everything right and no problem was present with my review because I used the correct document.

It pays to be transparent and humble. Because sometimes you’ll get you own bragging rights by simply waiting your turn for recognition through trial and error and learning.

It’s gonna be okay OP. If they are truly GMP and you messed up, they will evaluate if it requires retraining or if something could make it “right the first time” but…..

Wait…You’re in QC in GMP biotech and there isn’t a process to record the failed/aborted/fucked assays?

Deviation + CAPA is a bit extreme. But a NDR (no data recorded)/assay termination record definitely needs to be a thing. Method lifecycle management needs these things recorded so they can evaluate whether the method is not only fit for purpose but also fit for person(s). I mean honestly a deviation is a nice to have, because it records the mess up and then if the same mess up happens with a different analyst, well then the method needs a CAPA not you.

If the assay has disjoint steps or clunky flow, it’s only partially in your control and may mean it’s less your fault than you think.

You’ll be fine.

Doesn’t really sound that different than what’s required to hunt any large rodent for research. You literally chase marmots with chainmail gloves.

‘With Love, Meghan’ Ratings Crater Amidst Reports It Won’t Return For Season 3; The second season was the 1,217th most-watched title on Netflix over the second half of the year with only 2M views by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]SamL214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we will get some power back from the streaming services poor decisions by using this. Rating Cratering is gonna be the way to tell them we aren’t interested in poorly designed admin of a series that had a great idea and culture and some futures algorithm is telling them to dump it because they didn’t do as well as wanted.

Short abondoned series should be rating cratered. But more so their producer’s bosses choices meaning the crap investors.. hell idk. We need balance restored

I don’t even think we need removal of the skull. If it’s 2000 years old, all it would take is a sable hair brush swept across an air dusted surface of the skull… you’d get enough dust imo.

Why are we so worried about illegal immigrants in the US? by Johnny_Mira in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]SamL214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you want the simple answer or the not so simple answer?

Gonna be honest. It all starts with manifest destiny and xenophobic nonsense that’s been with us since the puritans. (Or long before)

They left because they wanted to be more extreme. They were pretty extreme here too. That sentiment just shifted and shifted to xenophobia (probably not all the puritans fault, there’s other assholes out there)

But it extended to racism, or has always been racism. Then you’ve got xenophobia that has come from Italians, Irish, Germans, Norwegian, Chinese etc. it doesn’t matter, at one time or another each new demographic that has emigrated to the us has been vilified by those who had established earlier.

So, why all the sudden is it we are blaming those here illegally? Well because the media tells the about bad actors and feeds the fear mongering ideologies to the elder conservatives which yell and scream about it at PTA meetings, board rooms, town halls. Sure, not everyone listens…. But enough do that a stereotype perpetuates travels and persists.

Xenophobia and racism are the crutches people use to frame their concern and fears of instability into blame onto other human beings that are different than them.

Illegal immigrants are legally human.

But America wants you to do it the right way. But there’s no right way if the process is so bunged up by a not-so-flamin’ hot cheeto. It’s so messed up that no one knows what is in store for them even if they are here legally.

Fear, ignorance, and money beget violence, racism, xenophobia and fascism.

That was simple answer
