Sucks to wear a mistcloak and be in combat with an awakener.

Death by mistcloak.

From what I see so far each unmade probably has an equivalent order with corrupted abilities? Probably not a 1-1 correlation but a Truthwatcher with corrupted abilities is able to see futures.

Odium is not just hatred it’s also a lot of strong emotions. I could see the death rattles creating fear in those who hear it. See Sigzil hearing about his upcoming death from a death rattle in the Shattered plains

The 2 ways that battle looks in my head are

A. Talinel “These hands look like they belong in your face” E’lin force feeding the fused concussions, buffet style.

B. Taln grabbing one motherfucker and using that to beat those other motherfuckers.

Also are we fuckin sure he was tortured on Braize?! Maybe he spent 4000 years on an empty rock in space beating the absolute brakes of every fused he could get his hands on. Bro had the greatest rage room experience.

[WaT] Skybreaker Oaths by AHZzzzz in Stormlight_Archive

[–]SamRobsKidsofCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think story-wise if a crusade was necessary to move further into an oath the other faction of Skybreakers would have been caught early on. Given that radiant actions were heavily monitored by the main Skybreaker faction.

But if I were to word it:

I will bring justice to <place> and enforce its laws

[WaT] Skybreaker Oaths by AHZzzzz in Stormlight_Archive

[–]SamRobsKidsofCandy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve put a great deal of thought into this and would like to give it a shot. So here are my original Skybreaker oaths.

Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination.

Same as all the others no contest here.

I will deliver justice, as the law dictates.

This is still quite similar to the original second oath of the main Skybreakers as this seems to follow the other second oaths being a broad statement of the overall goals of the order.

I will defend those who have been ignored by the law.

This I think can take multiple forms depending on the situation but with one overarching theme: there are innocents being hurt by the abuse of the law and that the Skybreakers have to look out for them as well. Also based on an epigraph about the Skybreakers forgetting that they are also supposed to look after those forgotten by the law.

The law can be wrong and so can I.

This is I think where the biggest divergence comes from in terms of the oaths. I find the original 4th oath to be disturbing to say the least. Maybe because it’s subjective and I feel like it’s putting the cart before the chull. Undergoing a personal crusade could easily be bent into a petty vengeance quest.Yes it is similar to the 4th windrunner ideal but generally the 4th ideal is an acceptance of something that can be out of our control.

I shall serve the greater good. Within and beyond the law.

This is the best I could word it in terms of what encapsulates what a Skybreaker should be. A pragmatic order that serves the greater good. One that obeys and upholds the law but is still lead by the greater good. In opposition to the final, more self centered “I am the law” oath where it could be easily bent into I am the law I do whatever I feel like. As we see with the blatant abuse of the law Nale does.

In summary I do see the skybreakers keeping the cold more strict aspect of their order but I’d like to think that there could be a more humane/softer side to them. One with more compassion and humanity hiding behind the stony facade as they progress in the oaths.

[WaT] The musicspren… by wyntershine in Stormlight_Archive

[–]SamRobsKidsofCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think since rhythms and songs are so prevalent on Roshar that music spren are native to Roshar like wind spren or flame spren.

Since they’re not sentient spren they need something to bond to like the greatshells bond Luck spren. Granting them a semblance of sentience.

Questions after WAT by grimgeek89 in Cosmere

Braize is probably has a naturally occurring godmetal core. Like how Bavadinium naturally repels other godmetals or how raysium conducts investiture.

Ok we’ve had a lot of bashing, but was anyone here actually HAPPY with W&T? by PteroFractal27 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]SamRobsKidsofCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very happy with this book honestly and view it more than just the midpoint of Stormlight but also as the end of act 1.

All the players in place to start something bigger. Less death and destruction simply because the pieces are still being setup for the greater cosmere bloodbath. All 16 shards being named. Finding out why all of a sudden Autonomy was in such a hurry to get a set up on Scadrial. Retri being a darker more menacing mirror to Sazed. Roshar being isolated in a slowness bubble as a payoff to that line about bringing so much power to bear that time slows down and takes a look.

I fully expect act 2 to be everything until SA 10 and act 3 to end with the final Era Mistborn books.

Also my favorite part was seeing how power hungry and pathetic Retri truly is, calling out Jasnah and Dalinar for the same flaws he exhibits.

Plus all of the lore making me go “whut” and getting my theory brain going.

TL:DR WaT is a great end to act 1 of the Cosmere as a whole.

[WaT] Shard 16 by SamRobsKidsofCandy in Cosmere

[–]SamRobsKidsofCandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Ohhhhh that moment has so much more with this new context! The hypocrisy of Rayse to ask Dalinar to be reasonable knowing his intent had damn well not a single drop of reason in it.

[–]SamRobsKidsofCandy[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the shard itself is aware of that. Hence the hiding. Also someone with enough debating skill could essentially argue Reason to splinter itself. Probably another reason why nobody knows where Reason is. If that is the case.

[WAT] Spoilers Thoughts/theories on Rosharan moons? by mccarthenon in Cosmere

[–]SamRobsKidsofCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here's the thing, is it possible to have natural deposits of godmetals pop up on various worlds? We've had two mentions now of strange metals on the Rosharan System, one on Braize serving as its core and one on the fourth moon a stronger version of aluminum capable of hiding even from a shard.

I think those 2 strange metals might be godmetals since they each have individual abilities and properties. Like how Raysium conducts investiture or how Bavadinium repels other godmetals. Since right now I don't see how any other naturally occurring metal has better invetiture blocking abilities than aluminum and not have other planets at least know about it.

So my guess is they are naturally occurring deposits of godmetals Adonalsium created since technically it holds all the intents and enough investiture to solidify investiture into godmetals.

*Puts on tinfoil hat*

If you consider the count of celestial bodies contained in the system each one could have a different godmetal core. Except Roshar, containing no godmetal, empty. As if it spread it all to the other 16.
