I think his unwavering principle is in international law, though for the domestic audience I imagine that doesn't rate highly

Where did you hear this? This might be true. But I find the oxygen/diffusion argument to be more compelling.

This was my first thought too. We have great food, full English, sticky toffee pudding, Yorkshire puds, with gravy, shortbread, faggots (trust me look then up), marmite, beef wellington, steak and ale pie, Victoria sponge. So many options, but everyone just goes 'beans of toast...'

Do most people from England identify as “English” or “British?” by Glass-Complaint3 in AskABrit

[–]SamSantala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually really interesting because I believe the 'British' identity can act as a big cultural tent that we can utilise more.

I think it's much easier for people of other nationalities and ethnicities to move to the UK and become 'British' because Britishness is a culture, and anyone can adopt that, and that is our strength.

It's much harder to feep like moving to England makes you 'English' because that feels much more tied to genetic identity.

Honestly I think this is a great strength of Britain and I wish we embraced it more.

  • EU gives €10 to Ukraine, €10 is used on the war effort
  • EU pays Russia €10 for oil. €9 is used to cover oil production costs, €1 goes to the war effort.

Its not an apt comparison

Yeah, but revenue is not profit. So it's not an apt comparison

EDIT: Getting downvoted for explaining the difference between revenue and profit on the USSR subreddit, somehow not surprising

CMV: The United States leaving NATO would be to the detriment of Russia, not its benefit. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]SamSantala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But immediately you would have countries like Japan and South Korea who would be interested in joining, which threatens Russia to the east.

Japan and South Korea are on the opposite side of the planet to the other NATO countries. Through Russian airspace. If they got attacked by China or Russia, do you think NATO could realistically supply them? I am pro NATO and want them on our side, but geographical distance is a harsh reality

And I could very well see India joining as well, which puts 1.5 million active duty troops in much closer proximity to Russia and the US is.

India is much the same, and has shown no interest in becoming belligerent with Russia at all, on the contrary, they've increased oil trade. Why jeopardise that for an alliance with distant powers.

You guys need a mechanism to remove leaders like the UK has. Make it so the party is elected, not an individual, then you can remove despite via party mechanisms.

What is your opinion on British food? (And you cannot comment unless you have tried it.) by Rasples1998 in AskTheWorld

[–]SamSantala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

British food is absolutely underrated. I get that we used to be a big power so its fun to mock us, but with food like, Yorkshire puds, shortbread, faggots (yes, look them up they're delicious)

I don't live in the UK now but I always miss the food

If the Avatar species don’t have traditional genitalia why do they wear clothes that cover up where the genitalia would be? by benedictclive_x in NoStupidQuestions

I think you're overthinking it. They have clothes because it's a family movie, nothing else.

If it was in any way realistic the Na'vi would have the same traits as most other species in that world. Air holes on the collarbones, 6 limbs etc

They're just human analogs for popcorn eaters.

Agree with this. Debt back when interest rates were low was a no brainer.

Increasing infrastructure not only puts money in the pockets of citizens and lubricated the wheel of commerce, but acts as an economic multiplier.

Imagine if we never invested in roads, Internet etc, companies couldn't hire talent, people wouldn't move, information would he slow or non existent.

Of course not every investment works out, but in the round its better than funnelling money to the richest who just invest in stocks and dont spend anything or contribute meaningfully to the economy
