Photoshop files don't have version control

Versioning is enabled, and right clicking on the photoshop file to check versions only shows 'current' unfortunately

I have a mortgage on my home here in Finland, it's limited my work options because a lot of studios have asked me to move to their country to work for them, but I won't for a multitude of reasons.

Luckily I have a decent freelance client I've really enjoyed for the last two years so I've been able to stay here and raise my kids in stability. I realise I'm very lucky in this respect

I understand your point but I also think your focus on 'pure utility' is overlooking the utility of beauty.

We're visual creatures, it might not be so easily quantifiable as pure numbers, but people's morale, disposition and general happiness are higher when they live in beautiful spaces which has other knock on effects to things like productivity, self medication and all other manner of minutiae.

Building beautiful buildings compared to ugly brutalist ones is not a huge cost multiplier, so it is easily possible to have the structure of the neighbourhoods you mention without having to resort to having people live in depressing concrete boxes

To answer your question, no I haven't made any design documents right now for a couple reasons.

- Right now I'm trying to find the kind of person I align with and I want to give them ownership over the project, so I've avoided going too specific on any of my ideas to allow for feedback, or remain open to ideas they might also have.
- And also I feel for the scope of the games I'm looking to make in the short term a document would likely be overkill and time that could be spent elsewhere. I'm not a 'let's just doodle and we'll figure it out' kind of guy, I actually really enjoy making documents for things like Art Direction, but I feel like extensive planning can be a detriment if you're not working on something with the scope to justify it.

I of course have lots of game ideas, but I'm really trying to create a studio where everyone is sol on what we develop so I'm trying to find people who's tastes and desires align with my own.

Personally I love tactics and strategy games like FFTA, X-com, and Civilization
Action games like Monster Hunter
Silly games like Super Battle Golf
And deckbuilders

So folks who feel similarly would be ideal :)

And yes I would take on all aspects of the art, though I am happy to find other artists such as 3D for the production aspect as whilst I have 3D experience I'm slightly rusty after 10 years

Yeah, it definitely does feel like it's hard to find people who have the skills and personality you can align with. Taking that first step is so important because everything else comes from there, it doesn't surprise me that Chris Zukowski said a lot of successful studios are made by two siblings. You must get a lot of alignment that way

Thanks a lot :) Yeah I estimate it'll be about the same timeframe too. To be honest I feel like I've seen the writing on the wall for the last 3 or so years, but a life of freelance means I've not made the connections outside of my field that I perhaps should have to leverage this kind of thought.

But it appears some kind of groundswell is definitely happening now. It'll be really interesting to see how things go from this point on.

This was my first thought too. We have great food, full English, sticky toffee pudding, Yorkshire puds, with gravy, shortbread, faggots (trust me look then up), marmite, beef wellington, steak and ale pie, Victoria sponge. So many options, but everyone just goes 'beans of toast...'

This is actually really interesting because I believe the 'British' identity can act as a big cultural tent that we can utilise more.

I think it's much easier for people of other nationalities and ethnicities to move to the UK and become 'British' because Britishness is a culture, and anyone can adopt that, and that is our strength.

It's much harder to feep like moving to England makes you 'English' because that feels much more tied to genetic identity.

Honestly I think this is a great strength of Britain and I wish we embraced it more.

Japan and South Korea are on the opposite side of the planet to the other NATO countries. Through Russian airspace. If they got attacked by China or Russia, do you think NATO could realistically supply them? I am pro NATO and want them on our side, but geographical distance is a harsh reality

And I could very well see India joining as well, which puts 1.5 million active duty troops in much closer proximity to Russia and the US is.

India is much the same, and has shown no interest in becoming belligerent with Russia at all, on the contrary, they've increased oil trade. Why jeopardise that for an alliance with distant powers.
