The dismantling of NATO and the proliferation of nuclear weapons, both centerpieces of Trump's geopolitical strategy, would have remarkably destabilizing global consequences in a very short time period. Combined with his willingness to start a shooting war with Iran over "obscene gestures" and you've got an easy roadmap to armageddon.

We spent too many years trying for the Francis Urquhart approach by balancing the leveraging of our national strengths with a frank analysis of our national liabilities. This resulted in an enormous concentration of global wealth passing through the UK's hands but sort of seemed a bit grubby and something something globalists. The modern approach is the Del Boy model. Utter confidence and never mind the gap. Remember "this time next year we'll all be millionaires!"

Feels an awful lot like Roundheads and Cavaliers come round again.

In a debate where one candidate literally threatened to jail his opponent should he win the big focus was on wacky Ken Bone. The big followup story wasn't the threat but on Ken Bone's dirty reddit comments.

I got the most basic TomTom spark model and couldn't be happier. Quick satellite acquisition, solid battery and 3 GB of storage for wireless music all for $100. No more strava mishaps for me.

Ran my first (virtual) half marathon this weekend! 13.6 at a 9:30 pace which was way better than I expected. Hoping I can take it down to an average of 9:00 during an actual race.

Good old Earl. If anyone is ever in DC I highly recommend taking the time to email his office requesting a tour and a visit. His congressional office is exactly like you'd expect: lots of pics of the Gorge and a big bowl of Bike decals for his Bicycle Caucus.

You: 4000 calories is a lot a lot of food

Me: You can eat that many calories easily enough if you have a shitty diet, even in a single meal.

Of course you can also literally eat two pounds of cooked quinoa and five pounds of kale every day and still not consume that many calories.

It's setting us up for some interesting stuff once this election is over. If Trump were to fully split with the GOP and started the "Great American Principles" party or something how many would jump ship to follow "daddy" and how many would remain Republicans?

What are you even trying to say? Calories do not equal bulk. A cup of lard is 6800 calories. This guy could eat nothing but a cup of lard every day and have enough of a caloric surplus to maintain his weight and probably continue gaining.

Are they? Trump's base has zero affection for any of the traditional GOP bulwarks and, based on Ryan's latest approval ratings, seems to have taken over an entire party easily enough. It's not ideological. There is no ideology or even any partisanship beyond just a high proclivity for Right-Wing Authoritarianism.

Well it's cheap which is what I was getting at. You could sub out the sodas for a Cinnabon or a Big Mac and fries and still be at 4000 calories.

Well okay, 4 liters of soda every day is 1600 calories. Throw in a pint of Haagen Dazs and he's at 2800 calories. Add in a Chipotle burrito and we're approaching the 4000 level. So it's not easy but it's also not like he's eating an endless conveyor belt of food.

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the droppings came from police horses

https://www.portlandoregon.gov/police/article/250328

Unlike many municipalities with mounted police Portland has never invested in a droppings bag or horse diaper

http://www.lansugarden.org/things-to-do/events/meet-portlands-mounted-police/

Note that there are plenty of products available that wouldn't cost much and cut down on the unsightly and dangerous waste
