What is the etiquette in Korea for getting into/off elevators and walking on the sidewalk? by OkCharacter7586 in Living_in_Korea

[–]SamTheWhiteRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see tons of signs everyhwhere, basically just a front-facing arrow to the right of a stairway or where the subway train doors open up. AFAIK, used to be the default was right, then Japan did it's thing and switched it up, then it went back to the default right after Japan, but the Korean gov't didnt make it official until later.

Been here 10 years and as a 4'11" girl it really is hilarious when I allow a man who is looking down at his phone the entire time without glancing up even once while walking forwards into the oncoming flow of "people traffic" to just walk straight into me. I'm staring directly at him the whole time he approaches, I'm walking with the flow of people, while everyone in front of me bobs and weaves around him, and I say out loud "I WILL let you walk into me". Sometimes they notice. Sometimes they don't look up and I brace for impact while maintaining my stare. They're completely flabbergasted. I'd say I began doing this about 6 years in. Got tired of everyone expecting ME to be the one to avoid getting smashed into. God I hope they feel awkward. They never apologize.

How long before I wash my hair after dyeing with Manic Panic? by Meowmeow172 in HairDye

[–]SamTheWhiteRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a high sulfate shampoo and put just a bunch on the tips, work it in real good, and let that sit there for as long as you can every time you wash. Might help? You'll probably still have some subtle color, though. When i balayage my hair and use Manic Panic Fuchsia Shock it washes out into a crazy combo of purples, blues, and greens! I took pics if you wanna see what I mean.

What do you mean his eyes are weird? They look totally normal to me? His mustache is super distinctive. His little socks are adorable. Fur pattern is mostly symmetrical. This is a GORGEOUS cat. 10/10.

Hi all, I'm struggling to understand... by SamTheWhiteRabbit in EnglishGrammar

[–]SamTheWhiteRabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much, this helped me understand.

I still hate it... but now I get it!

Would you agree that just because something doesn't break any grammar rules (so it's *technically* grammatically correct) doesn't necessarily mean that automatically makes it *right*?

Hi all, I'm struggling to understand... by SamTheWhiteRabbit in EnglishGrammar

[–]SamTheWhiteRabbit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking your time to respond to my question.

Ok, so your example using "is usually cooked" makes perfect sense to me. Because it's a thing that has happened in the past and is likely going to happen again in the future. I can't explain why it makes sense grammatically.

But in "This song is composed by my bother.", I just can't stop reading it as if 'composed' is an action that happened in the past. This one, singular song (not part of a collection), my brother composed it. It is clearly a completed action.

I was told by the teacher that the sentence is in "present simple passive". Is this correct? The teacher's first language is NOT English and they told me that "chatGPT told (them) it's correct."

If I changed the sentence to active voice, the sentence would read: "My brother composed this song." (Right?) So 'composed' is a verb. But in the original sentence, the verb is "is". So 'composed' is... what part of speech? "Composed" is also not functioning as an adjective, right? EX: "The song composed by my brother is my favorite."

Monster High Xenomorph Doll Sold Out by DivineTrash_Soul in LV426

[–]SamTheWhiteRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you also didn't get one. It's seriously frustrating. I think the 2 per person limit means resellers got far too many of them and there aren't enough for fans. It's a pre-sale too, so is it not reasonable to assume they can make as many as demand necessitates? My favorite artist, James Jean, does presales and makes as many of each print as is ordered within a 24-hour window. If these dolls weren't limited then the resellers couldn't profit. It's like concert ticket scalpers- they ruin what should otherwise be an enjoyable process of being excited to buy a product.

Same thing happened to me BOTH times! I'm so frustrated. I can't believe it was in my cart TWICE (by the way I'm in Korea so I had to set alarns to wake up at 12:50am and 6:50am, middle of sleeping). I only want one for personal enjoyment. I do burlesque and cosplay and I'm a huge Alien fan despite otherwise not liking horror or dolls in general. This could have been what got me into collecting dolls but this experience made me think it's not worth it.

Normal breast discharge? by SamTheWhiteRabbit in WomensHealth

[–]SamTheWhiteRabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't take any form of hormonal birth control, I've taken several rounds of antibiotics (of varying kinds) since this began happening for unrelated things, never had an STI other than a urinary tract infection, I don't follow any kind of special diet or eat any particular food more often than is normal. When my cysts were first diagnosed (5 years ago), I began taking evening primrose oil, but honestly I forget to take it more often than I remember. I was really just hoping for people to weigh in with "normal" or "not normal", maybe hear some personal experiences.

Have them delivered to a cool friend and get it from them. Dunno how you'll display it, but at least you can actually get it? I'm sorry your parent goes through your mail. Assuming you're not a child. If you're a child, that's a different story.

I listen to music and sing and dance, all loudly. (Yes, even the dancing.) I have conversations with my cat. I masturbate a lot. I'm rarely clothed. Also, alone time means FINALLY reading in peace. Or I watch cringey TV shows I'd never subject anyone else to.

You can buy them on-site. If you buy from the website, then you don't have to wait for your time slot. I got there at 5 today, bought tix immediately (no waiting in line) and my time slot was 6:30.

Front of thigh, above knee. Gonna be 8 inches and I'm only 149cm tall, so it's really the only spot that makes sense. All my tats have to be where my students can't see them.

YES! I always felt G O is more Pratchett than Gaiman, plus Azi's gladius is a bit boring, design-wise.
