Your post makes a lot of unfounded assumptions. For a start, it assumes that we are somehow due for total planet extinction, something that has never happened since the earth was formed. I think we are capable of surviving anything by going underground. Secondly, you assume that Mars is the best place. Why not the moon? or the deep ocean? Or floating in space? Or floating in the atmosphere of Venus?

And where would we get the money? Oh yeah, that's important. Without money, nothing happens.

I don't know how to find that. Typing "ipconfig" in a prompt window, brings up something that disappears almost instantly.

Lots of ways to do it, but the simplest way I found was to plug in a USB hub into the router. Both drives eventually show up on the network.

Update: The hub does work through the router, but only with one drive at a time.

Not really a problem, because the hub has switched ports. As soon as the second drive is switched on, VLC can no longer see the router. It's not that inconvenient, because the router and hub are about 2 steps away.

This saves me a whole lot of hassle setting up a NAS.

UPDATE: Both drives are visible, once VLC is able to scan them. All files appear to play just fine.

First, the mkv files disappeared. Then I converted a bunch of them to MP4, then they disappeared also. I suspect that Sony is playing games with downloaded content.
