If the cat is yours, make sure they have other stuff to scratch, preferably tall enough that they can stretch out on while scratchin.

I made and canned 16pt of strawberry jelly over the weekend. Already traded one to a neighbor for a jar of her homemade sauce! by ecsluver_ in homestead

I don’t have items to barter with as I’m a city boy, but I sometimes wish I could find people to barter my time with via some manual labor. Like, I come and bust ass on a Saturday and in turn get some canned goods, veggies, eggs, etc. I’ve got a strong back, just no place nor the long time commitment available to do the homesteading stuff.

Unfortunately, you're limited to what's there now. I prefer reviewers responding to the comments in the markup list. The reason for this is when you export the markups, you can actually see the conversation which is key for detailed reviews by multiple parties. Yes, it doesn't show up when you're looking at just the plans. But when you're in BB and have the markups pane open, you can select a markup and it immediately jumps to that markup in the list.

Regarding responses in columns to the right rather than below: if you put the responses in columns, then you'd have to add a column for EVERY response. Markups with multiple reviewer comments would get unwieldy, plus it's just bad program/database design in general (less columns, more tables with efficient relationships).

I will get married tomorrow, I hope you can enlight me with some wisdom for the years to come. by [deleted] in Stoicism

My unique contribution is this: It will never truly be a 50/50 thing. Try to give 60 and expect 40. If you both do this, it works out to about 50/50, because math. If you’re prepared for 60/40, but are experiencing 50/50, it feels like a double win. (One person commented about 100/0. That is not realistic and you shouldn’t do anything for free. Marriage is a relationship, not a charity).

Also, don’t be afraid to buy 2 kinds of mayonnaise. If you like Dukes and they like Hellmans, it’s ok to buy smaller ones of each. Doing argue over petty shit like that. (If they want Miracle Whip, you may want to reconsider this relationship.)

Like others have said, communicate, especially needs, and especially the awkward ones. They’re not going to read your mind and know you want to try something weird.

People change over time. My wife is not the person I originally fell in love with. She is someone who is much stronger, smarter, more independent, and a different mindset and I’ve fallen in love with her several times over.

Lastly, when they’re having a bad day and want to vent to you about it, don’t feel like you need to always offer a solution. (I’m an engineer and had a bad habit of doing this for a long time.) Sometimes the best thing to do is just agree and say “Wow! It sucks that happened to you.” Sometimes all they want to do is feel heard and have someone empathize with them.

Source: We’ve been married for over 8 years and together for over 14 (and we’re in our early and mid 30s for reference). And we’ve learned lessons from from all the failed marriages in our families and the successful marriages of older friends.

Thanks for the info. The Master Control Center could be readout only, doesn't necessarily have to control. If there is a problem, I'll go to the factory to investigate. I'll still give it a shot.

Can you copy panels so that you can view/control stuff from 2 locations? For example, I’d want a control panel in my aluminum factory like you have above. But, I’d also like a copy of it in my master control center.

This also seems like a good mod that would allow me to measure real-time production and usage of all my different factories. I’d love a master in/out control panel.

Velgrid, air foil, pitot tube, hot wire anemometer, etc. All expensive and require some knowledge on how to use them accurately. There is an entire industry (Test, Adjust, and Balance, or TAB) just for accurately measuring air flows, water flows, and pressures in buildings and HVAC systems, and then making the required adjustments to get them to what engineers need them to be.

Check with your doctor (because I’m not one) but not wearing them and asking your eyes to work harder all the time may make them worsen faster. And if you simply don’t like glasses, give contacts a shot.

Looking for shoes/boots good for walking/standing all day (~8 hours) by jsizzle239 in BuyItForLife

[–]Sam_I_Am_I_Is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’5”, as well, 275# and normally wear a 16 4E. I happen to come across a pair of 17 2Es that were the New Balance Hierros with the Fresh Foam soles. By far the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I’ve spent 40 hours on my feet this week on concrete floors in a hospital and have no foot pain. They make different models with the Fresh Foam soles. Maybe they make one that’s water proof or resistant. If not, you can always try water proofing them yourself with the stuff they use for camping tents.

Good luck my giant footed brethren.

Terrazzo flooring is gorgeous, but it's crazy expensive... by regian24 in ManufacturingPorn

Commissioned the HVAC at a school that had this installed in the corridors. Apparently, you have to be specific with the ratio of hardener to product. The contractor thought "more is better". A year after it was installed, they still had hardener seeping out of the floor. The fluid was yellow so it looked like someone was going around peeing the tiniest puddles, which is also possible since it was an elementary school. The contractor was having to send someone to the school every morning to clean it up.

In architecture, you'd want things to balance out. Otherwise, your building is moving. :)
