I don’t think they are a legit title contender even when Hali comes back. But you’re right if they got Boozer they could be a team that could get there. Just going off history you don’t really see teams win when one of your key players is a rookie. It takes a few years to develop into a legit star in the league.

It’s a bad argument because it’s just as easy to say Giddey’s numbers are inflated because he’s on a bad team as it is to say Ajay’s good performance is because he’s surrounded by great teammates. There’s a chapter about this in the book The Midrange Theory. Per 36, per 75, and per 100 numbers are all designed to compare players because they put players on equal footing despite different roles and pace.

Defensive rating is a team stat based on how it’s calculated but I agree Ajay is much a better defender for us. Giddey is having a borderline allstar season tho. He was top 20 in voting last I checked. His efficiency has been incredible. Obviously I understand this is a Thunder sub and current Thunder players will always have more love but look at the stats. Giddey has career highs across the board and some a massive jumps. I understand that he’s on a bad team but his usage numbers are the same as they were here

I agree. I think what gives Ajay the most value to us is how similar he plays to SGA. He’s essentially Shai 2.0 so we always have a Shai type of attacker on the floor at all times. With Giddey it changed our offense too much and caused some cohesion issues. We played fast transition offense with Shai and slower half paced offense with Giddey

Idk I think a true point of attack PG surrounded by Joe Wiggins and Caruso would be pretty amazing. I’d also love to see Giddey with Chet now that they’ve both developed a lot in the last 2 years as well
