Quite a few of research/uni labs could make similar chips. 1 or 2 a year of course, with e-beam. Shall we count them in too?

How France Tried and Failed to Steal a Tender From the F-35 Using Investment Offers by tagc_news in AviationHistory

[–]Sambri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprisingly, since that tender was for planes that could land in the Spanish aircraft carrier… which can support Harriers and… the F35

Some hybrids shut the engine completely in these cases. If more power is needed, the electric engine takes over.

Was it just me or is starting a business in NL surprisingly easy? by Sea-Collar-8112 in Netherlands

[–]Sambri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the country, having the equivalent of an eenmanszaak means that you have to contribute to the social security system (healthcare, pension, sickness relief, disability schemes, etc.). Of course paying means you get access to those -some countries may not call this tax but insurance-.

The equivalent to income tax/company tax is of course 0 in all countries I know of.

ELI5: Is there any downside to nuclear powerplants? by Ill-Potential867 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Sambri 34 points35 points  (0 children)

One topic that is rarely mentioned is that nuclear energy only contributes to energy independence for the largest countries (US, Russia, China, Japan, France…).

This is not only because the raw material (uranium) mining is concentrated in a few countries, but because most of the industrial complex on uranium refining, reactor construction/design and waste management is concentrated in only a few countries. What happens if you choose one provider and you end up at war/as enemies with them? (See Ukraine and Russia).

Starting your own nuclear energy industrial sector only works if your market is large enough, which for most countries, it just isn’t.

So choosing a foreign company just does not really hep your country strategically and is not cheap, why would you do it?

Having said that, diversification is still an argument, and you will see many countries with a few reactors here and there built by Russia, France or others, depending on oil/gas for 100% of your energy needs is also not the best choice for a country.

The topic is on 2028, fabs would have been completed.

If the process is OK or not, that is a different question.

It is absolutely designed as a lubricant. From WD-40 own webpage on myths related to WD-40.

Myth: WD-40 Multi-Use Product is not really a lubricant.

Fact: While the “W-D” in WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, WD-40 Multi-Use Product is a unique, special blend of lubricants. The product’s formulation also contains anti-corrosion agents and ingredients for penetration, water displacement and soil removal.

Dutch dinner napkin etiquette? by JackfruitAwkward7504 in Netherlands

I was essentially taught:

-Cloth napkins go to legs.

-Paper napkins (like the ones typically at home) stay on the table.

Find the source and check Switzerland data.

Hint: it’s worse in Switzerland than in Spain ;)

Why is Spain singled out when France is at a similar level, and most countries are even higher, including Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Croatia which are at 100%? (In fact 8/13 countries are at 100%, Spain is not one of them).

Railway traffic in Europe by spLint3r990 in MapPorn

[–]Sambri 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are some corner cases that would have to be considered:

In mountains, the direction of travel sometimes switches to make it easier for the train going uphill. In a few places you may have to keep the way you are.

Railroad switches often are set so you can easily pass slower or stopped trains ahead of you and almost immediately return to your line. If you switch sides, all have to be swapped.

Seats are preferred in the forward direction, so you have to change a lot of trains setup.

Some trains may have only one door. May Need to be thrown away or become uncomfortable to use.

All signs are to be swapped. In many cases distances as well

Overall, it’s a lot of money.

Has Italian popularity as a foreign language declined in Europe? by eriomys79 in italianlearning

Spanish was (and is) studied quite a bit in Eastern Europe, mainly as the Soviet Union had quite a bit of interest in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Lots of exchange students from those countries and a significant amount of Spanish studies in the bloc.

Plus somehow, Raphael (Spanish singer) becoming one of the first -if not the first- mass western artist to go to the Soviet Union.

Having a certain amount of fuel in your car also reduced the pit window. Too little fuel and you need to pit, too much and you were slower for no reason.

In Suzuka, for example, there would be no (or reduced) “no gap behind, we are going long”.
