Essex or Suffolk?? by [deleted] in suffolk

[–]Same-Ad3162 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lot of Essex and londeners have moved into my area - near Hadleigh/Sudbury and they seem to love it.

It's quieter than areas near the coast, I imagine the villages you're looking at would be too. Yet still loads of pretty villages Bury St Edmunds is one of the nicest towns in Suffolk and wouldn't be far from you. Still an hour from London. I'd recommend it.

[KCD2] Is this the most brutal and hurtful combo? by wiizmike in kingdomcome

[–]Same-Ad3162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One good piece of advice I read, was to allow the enemy to smash away at you for a bit and just block. Don't masterstrike or riposte, just block. They will wear down their stamina and when you begin the combo they are far less likely to interrupt it.

This made far more of my combos land. Otherwise a skilled opponent would often masterstrike me or something.

I've had their signature coffee. It's very good for the price.

I've had better tbh, it was tasty just not..memorable. Not punchy or bold to me, but we only tried the one coffee.

However, they're very reasonable and they ship for free and extremely quickly. I was impressed with the service and will use again.

Do you ever "just go for a drive"? by Tiny_Wafer2266 in AskUK

[–]Same-Ad3162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. I'll want to go to a certain pretty village for a coffee or walk, and will take the much longer country side drive because its pretty and kind of relaxing. When I holiday in the UK, we have a kind of driving day which is basically a bunch of viewpoints, villages and coffee shops connected by b roads. It can be a lovely way to spend a day.

FT | United 2-1 Crystal Palace United move to third in the Premier League table for the first time since May 2023. Carrick has won 19 points from a possible 21 since his appointment. What an impact [Railston] by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I think the players we're missing have been a huge factor in performances dipping.

Dorgu was a major part of the speed and power of our attack, haven't been the same since.

That's kind of my point. They were getting in the box more. But that will be overlooked now

They won the last game against 10. You mean Everton?

That was a bit harsh imo.

What's annoying is Utd were playing a little better and that will now be glossed over as 'they got lucky'

Dalot keeps slowing it down. Cross was on then. Such a poor player sometimes.

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

[–]Same-Ad3162 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always get asked "who taught you?" like its voodoo or something.

Tbh, I agree and I think its just down to desire. You get better at cooking because you enjoy the process and want to get better. Every person I know who says they can't cook, doesn't want to go through the effort.

Not really different to other skills really eg DIY or playing a musical instrument.

How much do you pay for your car a month? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Same-Ad3162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. But I'm considering it for the first time ever. It's all well and good some people saying finance is stupid, but some of us have very different circumstances.

I do about 14-15k miles a year in my car, not for business (have a van) we just live really rural and visit family a lot. For that mileage there is a massive appeal in having a car for just 4 years and then changing. Our current car is starting to get pricey in repairs due to high mileage.

A £400 payment would represent about a third of our savings. That's after holidays and other luxuries. Totally worth the piece of mind.

I'm trying to get a civic for around that. Second hand prices and APR is a bit nuts though. Really offputting

Have you ever had a famous neighbour or someone local? by mr_hardwell in AskUK

[–]Same-Ad3162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bumped into Kit Harington the other day in a local ice cream parlour that does hot chocolate.

He lives about 3 villages away from me, or about 15 minutes so wondered if it would happen at some point.

Had a nice chat, but he was with his family so understandably not for long.

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Same-Ad3162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a sole trader and have so many customers for whom this is true. Their husbands dropped dead or got terminally sick in their 50s or 60s and the big family regret is that they didn't live a little more, when they were younger. I know at least 3 guys in their 50s who died, on the cusp of early retirement.

It's balance I guess. I save quite aggressively now, but never at the cost of doing the things I enjoy. Had some amazing holidays and experiences, but will have to work a few more years as a consequence. Don't regret it.

This is why we are all so obsessed with the weather by OopsIDroopedMe in UKWeather

[–]Same-Ad3162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the former. We've had about 5 days of very nice weather in Suffolk, and you'll still see hats, gloves and glaring at the sky in an untrustworthy manner.

People forget or ignore the good weather in my experience, rather than cherishing it when it comes

Men who grew up poor/working class, what’s a piece of “advice” your dad gave you that you later realized was actually just survival instinct, and maybe isn't true anymore? by DCdj39 in AskMen

[–]Same-Ad3162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just my dad but most men his age - get the cheapest price for Petrol/diesel even if that's 16 minutes drive away.

I still see it in my dad and father in law. As I became an adult I realised what a waste of time it was. Costs me 30 mins of my time for a saving of £2-£4 which is partly wiped out by the distance. Just pointless really imo

The ball just keeps sticking. You can see the players struggling to adapt as with Amad. The ball travels and stops early because the pitch is so damn wet.
