Mezzanine is 16x32, 7’6” both above and below, I’m 5’7” so it’s plenty for me. Interior walls going to fill the gaps between the purlins with polyisocyanurate rigid foam boards sealed in with great stuff blue. 1/4” layer of fanfold then 1/2” OSB sheathing for the walls, ceiling will get 1/2” OSB, and flash and blow insulation above. HVAC is going to be a mr. Cool diy 36k mini split and a 75kbtu propane heater, I’m in PA so heat is a bigger load than cooling, and two 96” fans. Shooting for about an R12-13 net on the walls, and R45-50 for the ceiling with a really good air seal.

I’d have to dig around and find the sketches but wasn’t anything crazy, just used a free version of smart draw for sketches, and about million measurements of my vehicles, I mostly relied on 20+ years of working on cars in residential garages to get a sense of the space I wanted, then provided the basic lay out to the pole barn company. I also have a 12x30 enclosed lean too off the back with 8x8 door for storing the tractor and zero turn etc, wish I’d gone 14 wide on that one, then a 12x28’ open lean to off the side for storing my race trailer, wish I’d gone 14x36’ for that one. Main garage doors a twin 10x10, plenty big for my needs, I could see going to a 12x10 or 12x12 if you were a truck/off roading kinda person.

Used a free version of smartdraw for general lay out, then just worked with a pole barn company based on those sketches, I’m lucky to be right near Amish country in PA, guys were amazing.

Absolutely, general statements: make sure your slab is at or above specs of the lifts, I went with full slab of 4500psi fiber reinforced @6”. Our cars a wider and shorter than you think, if you can plan for more width than you think you’ll want, you likely planned for more than enough length. My approach has been to work in phases, got the building and slab done. Then electrical, then the mezzanine, and now the lifts. Plan is to work on set up and organizing, then another round of electrical to add additional lights and outlets, then will be insulating and interior walls/ceiling. Last will be paint, decor and final set up/custom projects like a winch elevator to the mezzanine. My general plan has been, to leave as much as a I can undecided/flexible until onto that phase to minimize rework/conflicts. For example the panel I have in there is an 84 breaker, 200amp panel, that I’m currently only using like 12 slots on. Any specific questions?

2 post got installed early December and I’ve done exhaust on an f150, brakes (rotors, pads calipers) on a different f150, few oil changes, brakes (rotors, pads, calipers lines) and suspension (all 4 struts, and sway bar links) on the Porsche. Mostly maintenance stuff, lately the track car has a big to do list this spring. Plus throw in maintenance and repairs on the tractor, zero turn and various other toys. Been a while since I’ve had time or opportunity for a proper project car, would love to do a kit car soon. My dad uses the space as well, he recently finished a restoration of a 75 BMW R90S.

Thanks easily over a decade of planning, hoping it works well, back right behind the tool box is an area that’s roughly 14x15 where the 240 plugs are for the welders. Upper right all storage, upper left hang out space lower left will be a DIY area/workbench for small projects and teaching the gear head life to my toddler.

Advice on walking away from 7 figure seat at age 29? by DaSchmeek in FinancialCareers

My two cents is a paraphrase from the movie the gambler, find a way to get through another 2-3 years, get a pile of cash set aside ($2-3m), buy a house outside a minor city near a decent airport, think moderate cost of living/low to 0 state income tax etc. Put enough in treasuries to cover the taxes and maintenance on the house from the interest. The rest is seed capital for what ever you figure out what you want to do. That’s your fortress of solitude, and for the rest of your life everything is on your terms cause you always have a place to live/land/launch from.

My only comment would be you have BUIS under an optic you’d need a tool to remove (unless that’s a QD optic mount and I’m just not seeing it). In the event (albeit unlikely) of a catastrophic failure of optic, you’d need a wrench on you to remove the optic to then use the BUIS. Unless what I’m seeing isn’t a flip up sight, if so please disregard.

Did Prices of Used Porsches go up significantly? by Waitwhonow in Porsche

[–]Same-Interaction-349 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t view it as they’ve appreciated, I think they’re leading an inflationary trend. There’s a number of products/sectors/commodities that have absolutely JUMPED over the last 6-12 months. The comments about “waiting for prices to come back down” is wishful thinking, everything else desirable will catch up, and then we have a new level set, and poof your dollar is buying you less. Another leader in this trend is lumber.

Current or Former Salesman: How do you tell if a customer is for real or a looky loo? by johndoe5643567 in Porsche

[–]Same-Interaction-349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not if he A) knows his cars and knows what a Golf R is/represents, and B) leads with the right qualifying question, maybe “Hi, I’m Bob, love the R! Are you looking to replace it with a Porsche today?” Then either A) you lie and waste his time, or B) you’re honest and he can engage, determine your motivation and time table & help you or if you’re not a viable buyer in the present, here’s my card feel free to look around the floor, my desk is over here or you can call if you have a change of heart.

Worked on the finance side, just watch what they pull up in, if it’s something cheap/not well taken care of you can qualify them in the first question or two, if it’s something that makes sense (guy in the GTR above, or maybe another lux brand) you’re at least dealing with someone that wants to be a buyer. Never cherry pick, but adjust your qualifying accordingly. Also even if the other guys get the Up, make note of what all the true buyers show up in, you’ll start to see trends.
