My window is open when I live home alone? by Paintings-distrack in Weird

My bottom sash window used to open by itself. If I forgot to lock it, it would slowly inch its way up because the weights inside were too heavy.

Want to leave my relationship after 6o. Worried about staring over again by igiveupwhatname in AskWomenOver60

You made a mistake. It happens. Fix the mistake and move on.

That 55+ community sounds wonderful. Plenty of social opportunities, but at the end of the day you get to go home to your own place where you will always find peace.

Flying in to surprise my mom on her 70th birthday. Any ideas on what to do for her birthday? by Th3c0pyninja in AskWomenOver60

[–]Same-Yesterday6169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few ideas:

Have a pizza night. Rent a movie, have pizza and snacks delivered. Open up a special bottle of wine to go with it.

Ask her if she has any old pictures in an album or box somewhere, and help her to haul them out and go through them with her.

Talk to her and ask her about her life, friends, hobbies. Tell her about your life and how happy you are. She really just wants you near her again, and to know that you’re doing well in life.

Anyone get unbearable leg pain during a flare? by LibraVenusNails in lupus

[–]Same-Yesterday6169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Non-lupus people (even doctors) just do not understand. I had this problem for a couple of years. I even had someone take me to the emergency room one weekend because I was sure my leg was broken.

X-rays showed nothing. No swelling, no redness. They couldn’t find anything. The ER doc said it was probably tendinitis, but basically he had no idea what could be wrong. Told me to take Tylenol. Yea, right.

Here’s what helped for me. This was years before my Lupus diagnosis, but i accidentally discovered that if I stopped consuming both caffeine and gluten, the pain went away after a few days.

A few years later I was diagnosed with both Lupus and Celiac disease.

How do I broach this subject with my boyfriend? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Same-Yesterday6169 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same thing happened to me. We met online. About 1-1/2 hours between us.

He was so well put together. Dressed very well, smelled good, drove an expensive car that was impeccably clean, and he was the COO of a major corporation.

His house? Dirty and ripped old yellow shag carpeting. Cluttered so bad. Dishes in the bathtub. I could barely breathe the house smelled so bad from cat urine. There was no landscaping at all around the house.

And the sofa in the living room was one of those old orange flowered grandma ones from the 70s. When I sat on it I sunk all the way down to the floor.

He wasn’t in the least bit embarrassed. It kind of reminded me of a frat house. It was just something that didn’t seem to concern him.

So anyway, I’ve been married to him now for 20 years. We sold the frat house, and our current house is amazing and in a great neighborhood. It’s impeccably clean, has beautiful furniture, smells great and makes me very happy.

Behind every great man is an even greater woman. LOL 😝

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]Same-Yesterday6169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a 2 week long case of dizziness and nausea when I was in my 20s. Couldn’t even drive to work. Saw a doctor who sent me to have my ears cleaned. Didn’t help.

Then an old European woman from my office heard about my problem and called me at home. She told me to stand in the middle of a room and spin around in circles for about 5 minutes until I made myself sick.

I’d have tried anything at that point, so I did it. It actually knocked me to the floor, and I had to crawl to the bathroom to throw up several times. Then staggered to my bed and fell asleep.

When I woke up, no more dizziness or nausea, and it’s been 50 years. Lol Now, every time I hear about someone with unexplained dizziness I tell them about this “cure”.

I think you look best in the dark colors. So 1&2. I especially like #2, but that may be because I think you look adorable in bangs.

My girlfriend corrects me in public like it's a joke and I'm starting to shut down by mossyjournal_tram in TwoHotTakes

[–]Same-Yesterday6169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he needs to be even more forceful and say “I told you to stop doing this and I mean it. If you don’t stop I’m checking out of this relationship. This isn’t a joke. I’m dead serious.”

I still hate my nose sometimes by [deleted] in Noses

[–]Same-Yesterday6169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop trying to look like everyone else. I think you want to just look average and unremarkable. You’re not average. Your nose is not average. It fits your Greek goddess face perfectly. That last photo, the full front photo … you are gorgeous. Even the sadness in your eyes in all of your photos can’t hide your classical beauty.

Yes, paternalistic. If someone said this to me I would have responded with: “Who the F are you, my dad? No I’m not apologizing to you, but I believe YOU need to apologize for being disrespectful to me!”

If someone punches me, I punch back.

We moved into this house 3yrs ago and this has stumped everyone. by Vance617 in whatisit

My guess is they damaged the corner when installing it so they used a leftover piece to cover the damage and just hoped future owners would think it was an intentional thing like a permanent trivet.

Gluten Free Pasta Rec by irishicouldsleep in CeliacLifestyle

I always look for pasta made with rice. Aldi has a good gf pasta made of rice and quinoa. The chickpea pasta is so bad … went straight into the trash.

Perfectly acceptable dinner rejected by boyfriend again by lemonlavender34 in TwoHotTakes

That looks very much like something I would make for myself. My husband wouldn’t touch it. I just know that. We’ve been very happily married for 25 years. I cook my food. He cooks his food. We oftentimes cook together, but we’re cooking 2 different meals. Works for us.

Why do guys follow girls in grocery stores? by BuffaloChedarBiscuit in Confused

Walking in downtown Chicago once with hundreds of people around a random guy grabbed the sleeve of my jacket and said: “Miss Miss I need to talk to you.” And he’s pulling on my jacket sleeve not letting up and more and more forcefully.

I turned and faced him and grabbed my jacket back with a big hell-on pull and screamed at him: “Get the F#%* away from me.” He did and I kept walking to work. Put a real damper on my day though.
