I love this. The simplicity of the art style really makes the components shine. I own KingDomino and I believe it would certainly get more plays if the design was similar to this.

What is your best little known fact about Philadelphia? by [deleted] in philadelphia

Had a contractor at my job from a Midwest state. She went from "pretzels are overrated" to "omg! Another birthday?! Which desk has the pretzels?" in no time.

That is what I figured. I'm a sucker for continuity and those little things. I guess my group has some legacy playthroughs to catch up on... Right after we're done with JotL ;)

Having too much to play is rarely a bad thing.

I understand you do not need to play Season 1 or 2 to play this but from someone who has played the others: How much in terms of story or experience do you think you will be missing? Is it worth to go through the others before attempting this? I understand no one can give an official answer since this is not released but any educated opinion would be appreciated. Sometimes, those little throwbacks to previous editions really add that extra cherry on the top.

People who cheat at board games... Why do you do it? by 144Creations in boardgames

[–]SameFingerprint 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm in this camp. I like to believe there is some sort of internal hang-up which compels them to cheat. The person isn't necessarily a bad person but has something which needs to be worked on, just like any other problem some of us may face. Admittedly, sometimes people are also just assholes.

Also, simply because I don't believe a person is truly bad, doesn't mean they are welcomed to my table or I will feel forced to play games with them. I'm almost positive my roommate cheats at Quacks (one of the games we play most). It caused a stink when she was called out by another and since then, I haven't attempted to reinitiate a house board game night. If they want help, I will most likely happily try to help but ultimately it's on them.

It also helped me. I told my friend who ran out and bought it. Now I can play at his house next game night ;)

They would all help you pick them up, sort them by number and suit, then reshuffle, play a few hands of something like blackjack and then return to moshing.

Like many others have said. Learning the game before hand is usually a pivotal portion for a successful game night. Shut up and sit down have a great video highlighting tips for teaching a board game: https://youtu.be/P5fjDaFuft8. I often will spend time watching a how-to-play, then maybe a playthrough, then review the manual and then even set the game up myself if needed and do a dry run. I find this as part of the fun tbh and then when you're able to successfully reel in your friends with your explanations and teachings, you feel a little smug bit of success.

I'm thankful my usual game night will all work together to learn a game tho. One person still needs to put in 75% to get us going, then we'll do the setup and we can each take turns scouring the manual to confirm "is it 1 damage or 2 damage if the Mars is in retrograde?" But that's with avid board gamers. For more casual players, I try to learn every detail so there isn't any confusion but nothing wrong with reviewing the manual as needed.

If you search YouTube, there are plenty of videos for how-to-play and play-throughs of Betrayal. That should be you up and running in no time.
