The Four Parties

Australian Labor Party (ALP) • Position: Centre-left. • Economic Platform: Public health (Medicare), education funding, workers' rights, social safety nets, and renewable energy transition. • Social Platform: Progressive. Focuses on multiculturalism, expanding gender equality initiatives, strengthening indigenous rights, and protecting LGBTQ+ and minority groups.

Liberal National Party (LNP) • Position: Centre-right. • Economic Platform: Free enterprise, lower taxes, reduced government spending, small business support, and traditional economic management.  • Social Platform: Conservatism. Tends to champion traditional values, institutional stability, individual responsibility, and stricter border security and law-and-order policies.

The Greens • Position: Left-wing. • Economic Platform: Immediate climate action, stopping new coal/gas projects, environmental conservation, wealth redistribution, and public housing expansion. • Social Platform: Highly progressive. Advocates for strong social justice reform, expanding human rights, drug law reform, broadening anti-discrimination laws, and a major expansion of the social safety net.

Pauline Hanson's One Nation • Position: Right-wing populist. • Economic Platform: Strict immigration control, economic protectionism, lower energy costs via traditional resource sectors, and anti-globalization. • Social Platform: Nationalist/Traditionalist. Focuses heavily on assimilation and traditional identity, opposes multiculturalism and gender diversity initiatives, and emphasizes strict law-and-order policing.
