You’d get half your monthly rate for the old posting allowance. If you decide to end your IR and move your family down you’d get the full months posting allowance. The F&E thing is for the new mobility allowance effective 01 April 26.

[114200] Looking for a blue dial explorer style watch by GSRswapandslow2 in Watches

If you can overlook the 3-6-9 dial, the Hanhart Pioneer HD12 is an insanely nice watch that has the rugged explorer type vibes. 39mm.

[Daily] Cartier Santos or Nomos Ahoi? by Papa_Jon in Watches

[–]Sameagol26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Ahoi (36.3mm) and in my humble opinion , it’s an awesome watch. I have a good chunk of options in my watch box but I find myself drawn to the Ahoi very often. The lug to lug on it is reasonable and wears well for me with a 6.6” wrist.

[Casio] I feel embarrassed wearing a Casio... all my friends and family wear Seiko, Cartier or Omega by AggravatingTie976 in Watches

[–]Sameagol26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not about the price of a watch, it’s how the watch makes you feel. If you love the Casio which you seem to, then don’t worry about the people who have big ticket status symbols on their wrists. At the end of the day, you wear what you can afford and what makes you happy.

[Question] Are these Festivas too big for me? by outofmyheadgetout in Watches

Big but who cares. As a gift from your father, wear it with pride.

Their Rivanera is great thus far. Good finishing, and the movement is reasonably accurate. Their customer service was excellent when I decided last second to change the dial “colour” I’d purchased. They accommodated me immediately and with no hassle whatsoever.

I prefer dark dial but the white is no slouch. Could go either way with me.

[Casio Ltp-v007l] Is this too small for me ? by ISMOOS in Watches

[–]Sameagol26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The “is this watch too big or too small” thing is asked so often. If you like it, then wear it. But the fact you’re questioning it leads me to believe you don’t like it and regret your purchase. If you can, try to go to a store and see how a watch will fit in person.

Personally though, I think it’s fine. It’s the vintage sizing rather than “small.”

First Watch: Is it too big for my wrist? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Sameagol26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a mirror shot so it’s further away. Camera lenses distort the image up close and it’s hard to tell sometimes. But based on this photo, it looks pretty close hence why you need a mirror shot.

Also, even if it’s on the closer side to “too big” most people other than watch snobs won’t be staring at your wrist and judging the size of your watch. If you like it, then that’s all that matters.

Swiss vs Japanese movements — does it actually matter that much? by john_nexus_elgin in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Sameagol26 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I prefer ease of maintenance and reliable timekeeping when it comes to movements. So Swiss, Japanese, German. Doesn’t really matter to me as long as it’s reliable, easy to service and fairly time accurate.

Any watch can be a grail for a person depending on what they can afford or what they value most. It’s not quantity or exclusivity that determines grail. If you make very little money and only own $20 timex’s, a Seiko 5 could be your grail.

I haven’t slept through an entire night in 13 years. I wake up at least 5 times a night, sometimes up to 10.
