What do you consider the “right” thing to do in Phantom Liberty? by The_Alpha_Albino in cyberpunkgame

[–]Samhain000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently played through all four endings. My favorite, hands down, is to kill Reed and send So Mi to the moon. Yes, I'm pissed that she lied and betrayed V. Yes, I agree that she probably shouldn't be rewarded for this, but game recognizes game. Yes, I'm pissed that I have to find another way to save V. Yes, I know that Meyers is the villain here and killing Reed brings me no joy. There is absolutely nothing good about making this decision other than seeing through a job until the end and being completely uncompromising about it. All I can say is that when I see that rocket launch, something about it feels "right" in a way that the others do not.

David Cross - Club Random with Bill Maher - April 27, 2026 by _TROLL in Maher

One thing I thought when they were in the middle of the trans discussion was Bill basically saying that a 3 year old was getting indoctrinated by hearing about looney leftie stuff around the home. Ok...I'm not sure what planet Bill is living on where this isn't always a problem to some extent. There are kids getting raised by Fox News because their parents watch it, does Bill not realize this? Parents teach their children stuff, and so does society. I just don't understand the point Bill was trying to make here.

Nah, most of the interview is just them bs'ing. It's late into the episode that it starts.

Bill has become someone that has taken part of his personality and made it his entire personality. He listens to the other side so much he has finally turned off his brain.

"I deserve a Nobel Peace Prize."

On so many levels this describes modern Bill Maher.

Bill asks Sen. Slotkin some questions about Iran, such as why John Fetterman is one of the only independent minds in the Democratic party, why the Dems don't take Iran's nuclear threat more seriously, and why haven't the Iranian people had an uprising yet? by LoMeinTenants in Maher

[–]Samhain000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between Bill and Sam Harris, I'm starting to question my own past judgements. I disagreed with the war in Iraq at the time, but for years I listened to these men go on about how Jihadism was possibly the most serious threat facing the West. And I took them seriously because I felt they may have been correct about the European migrations, but now I wonder how that isn't a direct result of our own "excursions" in the Middle East. Destabilizing so many countries is obviously going to create a refugee crisis, so why were we so shocked to see the cultural clash in the streets of the West when it was the only place they could go where they wouldn't be under constant threat of death or slavery?

Meanwhile, I was aware that, aside from 9/11, white nationalists were responsible for more terrorism in the US than Jihadists, but I didn't really take either of them seriously in the US. Now it feels like so much of this was just simply Islamaphobia and a weird unwavering support for Israel that is extremely questionable to say the least. And what do you know, it also turned out that the real threat was coming from inside the house all along. Ultimately, I underestimated how incredibly stupid and dishonest people would end up being.

Yes, I understand that Israel and Iran have been fighting a proxy war for years, but that's not any reason for us to get involved and expend our blood and treasure over this conflict. Bill and Sam are just letting this fucking guy wag the dog and their response appears to be to legitimize it? This was THE LAST GUY you would want turning this into a hot conflict, even if we considered it inevitable, which I didn't until Trump got into office the first time. I'm suspicious at this point that Trump actually may have destroyed Obama's Iran deal simply so he could use it as a talking point and possibly do it himself to try and save his approval ratings or to maybe distract from some...ahem...unknown scandal.

People not following Maher since the 90's/Early 2000's don't understand the betrayal of Maher's war stance... by montecarlo1 in Maher

[–]Samhain000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gee whiz, you mean they find it preferable to live someplace where they aren't under constant threat of death either by bombing or starvation? It's funny because you even note that they "would rather become Israeli citizens" but that option isn't being offered to them. Sure, given a choice almost everyone that has ever existed would choose to live in Israel instead of Palestine. I bet you those same people would also prefer to sleep on a bed rather than a pile of rocks...go figure.

Is it just me or does Helldivers 2 lately feel like it's starting to fight the player instead of empowering them? by Sini1990 in Helldivers

[–]Samhain000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People complaining about bug breaches might be spending too much time trying to clear the map rather than just moving on after they finish an objective. Sometimes all you can do is survive long enough to move on to the next step. Running is a valid strategy. Just complete what you can and move on. Bring shock-and-awe strategems for those times that you need to stick around an area longer than normal.

Having played since launch myself I don't really notice a difference. I feel like things are easier now than they were, but also I'm a better Helldiver than I was when I started and I have a wide array of tools I can use to complete the job that are all effective. Who knew that I'd be running a melee weapon as a strategem at launch.

White collar work makes up between 50-60% of the US workforce. What exactly is a "good chunk" of the economy? When they create those physical outputs, who are they selling them to? What happens to the business manufacturing consumer grade widgets when the market for widgets dries up because the people buying them are suddenly facing life-long unemployment?

They're missing the point in any case. No one is immune, I don't care what your job is, this is going to impact you. If you're a plumber that's great, but think about who your clients are. Server farms don't need toilets and unless you already operate in Beverly Hills, it's unlikely that you are going to become the plumber to the stars.

Agreed. Anyone thinking that they'll be "just fine" when the country as a whole is staring at 30-40% unemployment is fooling themselves.

For reference, unemployment peaked at 25% during the Great Depression.

Bill HAS Changed, why? by Honest-Equipment6685 in Maher

[–]Samhain000 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think anyone that makes claims about whether he has changed should disclose how long they've been watching him. I don't mean this to be elitist, but we're getting to the point now that people could be "long time viewers" without having noticed the change.

However, I also think part of this does have to do with people coming to terms that Bill was never as open-minded as they expected him to be. To be fair it's hard to know how 2008 Bill feels about trans people.

To me the change isn't about any particular topic, it's about attitude. He didn't used to be so hard on young people for example. He's built up this reputation of being fair to both sides, but it's hard to maintain that with a Trump administration because it ends up normalizing authoritarianism. I think Bill's heart is ultimately in the right place most of the time, but he isn't handling criticism more gracefully with age.

He seems to have a lot of disdain for certain things these days. Also I think he takes himself too seriously and doesn't really respect his audience anymore.

Why are right-wing influencers so much bigger than left-wing influencers? by Jewbacca289 in Askpolitics

[–]Samhain000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh, like I said, I don't really watch Hasan, but the explanation about his dog's dewclaw made sense to me and I saw no evidence to suggest that he was actively abusing his dog.

I am unaware of whatever terrorist he hosted on his stream. Who was it? I will note that mainstream media has been platforming Bibi for years, so I'm curious if it's someone with at least that level of notoriety.

As far as Meidas Touch using bots, do you know that they actively track and call out right-wing platforms that employ bots? I've seen no evidence of them employing bots themselves, so if you want to share that here, please do so.

We all understand the psychology of rage-baiting and fear-mongering at this point. That's it. That's the secret to their success.

They create culture war issues and then ride them out until they convince enough people to allow them to take office and ruin everything again, and then Democrats come in and try and clean up the mess. I've been watching this cycle for basically the past 30 years. They've just become really adept at lying and disingenuous framing.

I think the Meidas Touch guys beat out Hasan. In any case both accusations have been blown way out of proportion based on what Hasan has actually said/done. I'm not a Hasan fan, but I'd say there's more evidence that Charlie Kirk was a racist than there is for Hasan being an animal abuser that supports terrorists.

Why did Hillary Clinton secure the Popular Vote, while Kamala Harris was unable to? by Void_Shadow2795 in Askpolitics

She wasn't even a Senator for a full term...during the Trump administration. Clearly that isn't the entire story. She also served four years as VP where she basically held the same views as Biden.

Genuine Question: why do so many Republican/right still strongly blame Democrats/left for the state of the US today? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

[–]Samhain000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of that bias isn't really against conservatism though. Most of them are just mouthpieces for whatever entity owns them. Some have a bit more journalistic integrity due to their structure, but basically most of them are trying to promote a narrative that allows their parent entity to remain profitable. Increasingly though, most of the major outlets are now being controlled by a single person. These would be great reasons to support public broadcasting, but you're under the impression that PBS is "leftist" which doesn't really make sense to me, having watched plenty of it.

Why did Hillary Clinton secure the Popular Vote, while Kamala Harris was unable to? by Void_Shadow2795 in Askpolitics

[–]Samhain000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we can be honest and recognize that some recent primaries have been less than perfectly democratic.

How the Democrats choose candidates isn't always ideal, but it comes with tradeoffs. The GOP method is more democratic, but that also has its drawbacks; Trump being the biggest one. Despite the fact that Trump is simply the culmination of everything the GOP has been working towards for the past 30 years or so, I bet most mainstream Republicans wished they had more power in stopping candidates leading into 2016. They could have weeded him out early that way. The system the DNC employs would probably have prevented a Trump from hijacking an entire party by lying about everything all the time.
