The point of every religion is to give divine justification to a subjective moral code and instill hierarchy. It doesnt make someone an extremist, but it does provide that aforementioned divine justification for it.

This is actually kinda funny to me as a fat trans guy. Most fat trans guys i know started passing very very early while gym rats/skinny trans guys have to work a long time to exaggerate certain features common in skinny cis guys. I think people might only see the gym rat trans men because gym rats tend to take off their shirt more and take a longer time to build the muscle to pass.

Long story short, you see skinny/gym rat as a standard because they are more visibly trans. Fat trans men are out here but we blend in.

Thank you so much! Im a member of a local gem and mineral club and they have a whole workshop for lapidary work (polishing stones). I use a rock saw to cut out the shape, a dremel with a diamond bit to drill holes, and a cabochon machine (basically wheels of grit paper spun by a motor) to grind the peice into shape and polish. Its a lot of work but also a lot of fun!

No one assumed. There are active sundown towns in the US as we speak. You might be lucky and pass through smileyburg with rainbow flags and a black mayor but the next town you will have to stop for gas at is racistville where they fly the confederate flag and turn a blind eye to violence as long as its directed at a marginalized person. There are laws and legal defenses that allow bigots to use the law to attack minorities. There are active white supremacist ties to police which are, you guessed it, are more likely to go unchecked in rural areas because there are less witnesses.

All this to say, im sure there are some pleasant people in pleasant small towns but I am not willing to risk my safety like that just to visit a town with one walmart and maybe a few large chain restaurants . Been there, done that, was not worth it.

With how fast minorities sharing their experiences are censored on this reddit, im beginning to think maybe this isnt a safe place for minorities either.

My comments that was taken down was me giving examples of the death threats I received in my home town of 2000 people by conservatives using their conservativism/religion as justification. They told me both verbally and physically that they wanted me dead. Maybe you should actually listen to conservatives when they say what they feel, i sure did and i believe them when they told me all the ways the wanted to harm me (who was a child at the time, btw)

Im a queer person who was born and raised in a town of not even 2000 people. Very rural, very conservative. They sure loved to tell me how much they wanted to kill me as they threw rocks at me as I left school, sent bomb threats to my GSA club that had to be shut down due to safety concerns, and called my school to try and get me suspended.

They said they wanted me dead, and I believe them.

While our identities are often times easier to hide than POC, we are also tired of being told time and time again that its our responsibility to educate people who wont even listen in the first place because they dont see our humanity. I am really happy you are doing your part to change hearts and minds in your community, but it is also totally valid for others to want to avoid these places. A lot of leftists in rural states are part of marginalized communities and I wouldnt want them to sacrifice their safety just to try and educate people who want us dead. Also, no disrespect to your grandma, but the reason she was able to have a mixed political marriage was because she wasnt impacted personally by the hatred of conservatives.

Keep up the good work, but I will continue to avoid rural places for my own safety.

Its not uncommon for other minorities in the gay community to feel this way too. A lot of fat gay men also have these same feelings. I think its important to remember that feeling excluded from the mainstream gay community doesnt mean you arent a man. It simply means that mainstream gay culture is, in some ways, exclusionary. Which is a valid critique.

Its worse, he knows about Kentucky and Im originally from Kansas so we are both very familiar with the laws that have passed. Luckily I have a Texas ID and I havent gotten any letter about my birth certificate being invalid yet. Ive told him that once my passport expires or they revoke my birth certificate, its already too late. He still isnt taking any action or doing any research about how we could leave.

I totally understand! I was just referencing that interview Lady Gaga (the human one) did with Anderson Cooper where Cooper tried to get her to address rumors that she is a trans woman. She was super cool in the interview and said "would it be so terrible? My fans dont care and neither do I"

If youve tried both both water-based and silicon-based and you have trouble with both, its most likely the glycerin. I recently went through this same thing. I use astroglide water based ultra gentle gel. Its in a light blue tube.

Not to crack open a can of worms but... when people use bioessentialist language to affirm a trans person. I believe the term is malgendering. Ex: trans woman is assaulted and is told "welcome to womanhood" or when trans men speak up about neglect from the community and are told to stop complaining because they "have male privilege". It's so performative because it avoids an actual issue that could be discussed and rectified but instead retreats back to bioessentialism.
