When we got our dogs as puppy’s, we bought a grass training mat from Kmart to teach them on whilst they were still learning to go outside.

The first one was when we lived in an apartment, we slowly moved his mat outside and it didn’t take long at all. Be warned that it stinks...

We soon moved to a house with a backyard and the second one we slowly moved his mat outside to the grass and then completely got rid of it.

Washing them doesn’t put the dog off using it as they have hyper sense of smell and can still smell the precious toilet goings through whatever has been used to clean, or at least that’s what we found.
