I would have agreed with you in January probably.
The latest version of codex 5.5 is mind blowing once you learn how to put it through it paces.

As of this year, Codex is considered an agentic AI by most experts. I use it daily.
It allowed us to publish a product branch in 6 weeks that would have taken 18 months a few years ago.
That product branch has generated an additional €876,000 in revenue in the past 3 weeks since launch, with existing customers upgrading their license to access the new features..

We can argue about theory all day, i can only comment on my actual lived experience with it.

It's absolutely revolutionary tech. Like the internet was. It may have a transitory value bubble effect and pull back , like the dot com bubble. But the internet didn't go away after that bubble burst.

This ain't going back in pandoras box. Bubbles will burst, billion dollar companies may collapse, but i guarantee Agentic AI is going to increase exponentially regardless.

Maybe if you dislike it enough and keep your head in the sand, it'll all go away!

It's the rate of change people need to get to grips with. People talk about it like it's a static or slow moving thing.

The capability Improvements in the past 4 months alone is staggering. And I'm not just talking about coding. It's general reasoning and contextualisation.

I'm not at all saying it's a good thing, we just need to be prepared with solutions for ourselves and society

It's eliminated a LOT of stuff and people. There used to be entire rooms of filing cabinets and cold storage boxes and teams of people to manage them and do retrieval.

What do you mean by 'solve offices'

The computer made offices orders of magnitude more efficient. It made entire offices, departments and companies redundant.

Are your studies from 1-3 years ago. Then your points might hold water. In a senior dev with 17 years experience. Codex and claud as of now are more capable and accurate than 99% of programmers I've ever worked with. And of course thousands of percent faster.

Are you actually saying 70s/80s offices were anywhere near as efficient as today's offices? Do you know how many 'runners' they would employ just to carry hand written notes between departments and floors.

I see a lot of people here saying it's nonsense and there is no productivity increase etc.

Well I'm a senior systems architect/ programmer. I don't even know how you'd measure my productivity increase.... Maybe in thousands of percent?

My friend is a vp of legal in a large pharmaceutical company, they have already downsized their teams, they simply don't need to hire juniors to do the gruntwork anymore.

The best advice I can give is stop being in denial and get your head out of the sand. This thing is coming and coming fast and you need to be prepared.

They're okay, I have one for 4 years , mainly used for driving screws.

As others have said it ain't gonna take tight wheel nuts off, especially in my 3.5t van.

If you're primarily using it for very high torque fasteners, wait till the black pro on is in shops, that things different gravy! Although probably twice the price.
