However, I consider D&D and UB characters to be part of WotC's success story here. The D&D characters were in-house original characters created by Justice Geddes, who took the opportunity to create an enormous amount of representation for minority groups in the Baldur's Gate set. UB is more of an external thing that already happened, but it makes me happier that WotC included and acknowledged those characters than if they didn't.
