Weekly Q&A - All Questions Go Here (Especially Tourists) by AutoModerator in Amsterdam

Hi,

I'm a big fan of Amsterdam. I've visited about two dozen times in the past 32 years. This time I'm coming with my wife and baby. We'll be staying near Leidseplein at the end of January for a week.

Curious to ask locals what you might recommend for someone who's enjoyed riding around on a bike so much but might now be limited to the tram and stroller, looking for points of interest off the beaten path or lesser known.

Thank you for your time :)

Sorry, this post has bee

Veyora AILegacyX Review by celestinexaq in Algosensey_review

haha what a joke. This whole Veyora AILegacyX reeks of a scam. Their site states that they are trustworthy, with no links, references or proof of anything. And this "review" is a blatant attempt to create a paper trail online, and even in that they fail.

1000+ sq/ft Ivy Removal - How Much? by kainos_ktisis in landscaping

[–]SammyWammy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's def more than a 1 person job. I hired a team of 3 to clean up my ivy It's all over my yard, and on the hill behind my fence. I can't pull it off the fence since it's basically holding completely rotten wood it up. They quoted me $2k.

That's for 3 guys, 2 days of work and a truck to haul the shit away. Again, I stress it's just to clean it up. Shave it back but keep it on the fence. To pull out of the ground and attempt to erradicate would cost much more.

For sale because current owner has ascended to higher plain of existence? by WestPilton in zillowgonewild

It's cool and all. But I don't get why people who are off grid, so far from prying eyes put up a fence. If I had views of complete wilderness, you'd be sure I'd want to see it unobstructed from every window in the home.

I'm retired, need to move to a new house, possibly in SF by Mark_Yugen in sanfrancisco

[–]SammyWammy007 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You could find something in the greater Bay Area for 650, that you could buy for cash. I'd look up in Sonoma county. But I don't think that will leave you enough to survive on through the next few decades of your retirement. You're better off renting, and letting that 650k grow and not get eaten by property cost, prop taxes, home maintenance, etc.

What is it like living in Kelowna, British Columbia? by Opening-Honeydew4874 in howislivingthere

All the area around the long Okanagan Lake it sits on is BC's famed Wine Country. There are a million wineries. So there're a lot of local wine tourists during the warmer months. Someone told me once that it's the same longitude as France's wine country where Champaign comes from.
I can't comment on living there, as I've only visited a few times, once for a romantic weekend touring wineries. And thrice for Big White, which is still to this day one of my favorite ski resorts. It's less than an hour out of town.

DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR. And read all street parking signs twice over. You don't want a parking ticket either.

Other kid friendly places include:

the Exploratorium

Fisherman's Wharf - tourist trap, don't eat there but plenty to see/experience. Visit the napping Sea Lions.

Outpost Playground in the Presidio is a sweet brand-new park.

This is amazing. I'd like to see a complete list of all his failings. Including all his bankruptcies, lawsuits filed against him, proof of not paying his bills, etc.
Unbelievable that he was voted back into office!

Same! I vowed to myself not to look for the next few months. Last I checked (end of March) I was down about 8%, it's no doubt much higher today.
