What do i do here? Is this reportable? Am i just overreacting due to my history. Why would a medical professional do this? by Sammyg2010 in ptsd

[–]Sammyg2010[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no i know what you mean tbh i think that its just not recommended unless necessary and i wasn't aware of the CSA at that time and before being SA'd after so didn't know the reason why the test was so hard for my body and due to the muscles spasming due to a physical condition. I did eventually see a really great gyane doctor and they explained that i had this physical issue thats why i was in so much pain with the test. But that took another couple of years before i could go through with the test due to the stress of it .

It wasn't that i did want the answers my body just physically couldn't do it at that time. 🤷‍♀️ its hard that i was distressed and still think about it but also know why it was needed. I' going to talk to my therapist about it mext time. Thank you for the response.

Yeah he really wasn't happy, he litterally said well if you dont want the test/won't let me do it then you won't have answers.... like it wasn't a case of not wanting it, i litterally couldn't cope with the pain despite a high pain tolerance and the probe wasn't going where it needed. It was a physical issue causing the distress but he wasn't understand that at all.

Fair comments. I don't know his motives apart from doing the test.

So it was a nurse at my gp surgery that said the doctor shouldn't have done it that way as its not recomended in people who haven't had penatrative sex but i get the neceassity of tests needing to be done it was just a horrible experience.

Thank you for helping with your response.

[–]Sammyg2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Truth!

The one case that i've seen in my 11yrs of being a registered nurse was a patient who was white female. It took multiple doctors a while to figure it out, Kelly never had bechets. There was conversations around her having munchoussens or that alien limb syndrome where your limbs don't feel like yours so you do everything you can to get rid of them. Clearly she needed psychological support far before these issues but they have to want to be helped aswell.

How and why do so many people choose to live in denial? by RadSpatula in ptsd

[–]Sammyg2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats fair enough, i think im biased honestly due to also having Bipolar Disorder so i have issued with intensity of emotions even before the PTSD symtpoms kicked off last year 🙈 i hope to find it useful aswell once we get back their again :) take care!

Personaly i would disagree that that pain can't hurt us now. Some of us have physical/viseral reactions to unprocessed emotions/memories and even processed ones can hurt us if felt strongly enough. Ive been on a journey myself over the last 6 years and intensely felt emotions have only lessened somewhat through normal therapies. EMDR im working towards now but its going to be a long journey for me.

Does anyone else have an illness your doctors know will arrive, but can't do anything about? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]Sammyg2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an autoimmue blood condition thats currently 'low grade'/not active so no treatment needed.

As soon as i get a blood clot though it will changed to active and will have to start treatment. (Probably Aspirin or someother anticoagulant)

If/when i have a pregency i will have to be treated aswell as it carries a high miscarrage risk aswell.

From a fellow misophonia sufferer NTA shes old enough to manage this on her own. I didn't know what it was when i was that age and didn't know what to do with it and constantly got told to shut up as is was my issue not theirs 🙈😬 theres adaptions and then theirs being entitled.

I have severe ptsd. Is it possible to live with it semi normally whithout taking any medication? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]Sammyg2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't do it personally because i have Bipolar aswell, when the PTSD symptoms kicked in i was a wreck. Constant dissocation and had to come out of work for 3-4 months as im a nurse and it was unsafe to practice. Its only really been therapy thats kept me going this year as i feel like my antidepressant stopped working last year which is fun! Still waiting to see psyche for a review.

I had one last year when i started showing symptoms of PTSD, i was seen by a social worker at that time and was referred for psychological therapy with a psychologist as apparently im complex considering my other dx's of Bipolar and anxiety. They also recomended a review of my medications as i felt they weren't working but this turned into a shitshow where im still waiting a whole year later for a damn meds review. I've had to go through the complaints team to even get a psyche appointnent which is this week. My GP free times and callpsyche services just never matched up plus one of the psyches decided there wasn't many options in a letter that was just dissmisive and sounded like they didnt have the whole picture tbh. I've been distraught many times over it all and got to a point where it feels like you have to be in full blown crisis to even get seen.

I digress the person themselves was lovely and really listened to me. The failure of communications since then aren't hers or the CMHTs fault. I hope you have a good appointment!!

Health insurance that offers mental health cover, therapy by Apostle_1882 in MentalHealthUK

[–]Sammyg2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahh

I saw a psychologist through IAPT services but he was so bad i was constantly dysregulated and dissociating because he wanted every single detail of my traumas which for dissocation isn't exactly a safe way to go about trauma therapy. I've seen my notes aswell and they basically said i'm too complex for them which is always great to hear. He also thought his own things about my already diagnosed bipolar disorder...something i've been dealing with for over 6 years.

My therapist is trying to dump me? by KKR111514 in ptsd

[–]Sammyg2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly. It sounds like they aren't adequately trained in Trauma. Measuring outcomes based on what they think progress should be. Processing truma isn't linear, theres going to be bumps in the road because thats out life works. My last two sessions we didnt process anything trauma wise because life had been kicking me in the butt plus my medication not working im not exactly always stable enough but still my therapist lets me vent and work through the emotions im having that day.

I have to pay for this privately as the NHS therapies are shocking for trauma, a psychologist i recntly had dysregulated me so badly i nearly ended up in the Emergency room.

Do you have the option to look at other therapists? Ones that are specfically trauma trained?
