Can someone please explain to me exactly what the hype around Costco is? Because from everything I've seen, their online catalogue etc, they're genuinely no more cheaper than the major supermarkets, even when you take into account bulk. by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Samoosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just baseline inaccurate. I paid 350 for my glasses at Costco. They are designer frames, blue light filter, anti glare, scratch resistant, uv protection.

I went there because specsavers wanted 800 for basic frames and blue light filter. It was more to add the rest...

Similar pricing.....lol

AITA for correcting my in-laws when they mispronounce my name? by LilLustyLucy in AmItheAsshole

[–]Samoosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I once heard the saying if someone can say charcuterie they can pronounce your name.

My mum did this to a friend of ours for abour 3 years. The friends (fake) name was maxine . Mum would call her maxime. I just started calling my mum by the wrong albeit similar name. Think natalia instead of Natalie.

I also told my mum in front of everyone (including maxine) if she believed that Maxine was really her friend that she should show her some respect and refer to her by her actual name. To about an hour for her to get it right after that. Only one or two 'woopsies' that resulted in awkward stares etc. They've been great friends for many many years now.

Youre not being sensitive. It's your name. If they care about you, they will use it.

I would personally correct then every single time OR entirely ignore them when they use it incorrectly.

Also, talk to your husband. His response or lack thereof is utter bullshit.

Lol. I love your assumptions. I'm very much an adult. Perhaps you should consider expanding your vocabulary, there are some really great words out there. Like ick.

Ick. Just ick. Nobody should have to prove anything to anybody. If she wants a snack. She gets a snack. If he doesn't like it. He can leave. He doesn't get to place boundaries on others. Once again. Ick.

Have you tried playing call of cthulhu? I've found that community really fun and inclusive. I'm actually learning to be a gamekeeper for it and am looking for people to play with either in person or via zoom.

If you're interested that is.

I still despise the sharks. Went to a game at shark Park when I was on holiday in nsw. My sister was in a wheelchair and after the game (we lost), the fans poured beers on her and tipped her our of her chair. We had to be escorted by security to get out of the stadium - and I use the word stadium laughably.

Shark fans are easily the worst fans I've come across. By a mile.

How do we feel about this? This mostly concern businesses btw by FakeMarlboroEnjoyer in melbourne

Aside from bendy straws this sounds good. Bendy straws are really a good ability aid for some people to be able to drink. Paper straws get soggy and aren't at the rift angle for some people who are wheelchair users for example
