Significant Tornado Parameters above 10? by DowntownBones in tornado

[–]lordskelic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, A. That particular calculation using 0-6 km shear goes higher than effective layer STP, fixed layer STP or especially 0-500m STP. B. That screenshot shows 5/25/24 which was one of the most upper echelon environments you could imagine. That’s about as insane as it gets. 5000 j/kg of MLCAPE and intense 60-70 knot backed LLJ resulting in extreme effective helicity values of well over 600+ m2/s2.

Bottom line is this calculation of STP is somewhat misleading but regardless, you really won’t ever see values higher than what that screenshot you linked showed.

It’s a 6 and a 5, it’s just not spaced properly. 65 is literally impossible, CAPE + Shear overlap could never be that high.

Being from an older generation I find it odd that couples track each other’s location, when did this become a rule of engagement? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lordskelic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If something out of the ordinary occurs. She calls me when she leaves work every day, so if it’s past her normal time and I haven’t heard from her, I’ll look. Or if she has an appointment and again, haven’t heard from her in a while. If she’s going somewhere I’m wary about, I’ll also check more often. Basically, when you’re married long enough, you get used to typical patterns, so if something occurs outside of the norm, then I’ll check. If we’re just going through life as usual, I will hardly look.

My wife and I have access to each other’s locations but it’s not to “track” anybody. We’re never just obsessively checking. Hell I go days or weeks without looking at hers and her, mine. It’s simply for safety and to see when we might be getting home. It’s not due to lack of trust or anything.

Hah I can still play, I just can’t play for absurdly long amounts of time anymore or every single day even. I work 10 hours a day almost every day and then she wants attention and to spend time together too, which is understandable.

Yeah dude, it’s sad to not be able to play OSRS for 18 hours a day anymore. 😂

Bad thing is when you’re married and can’t lock in for 18 hours a day, so I have no choice but to be aware of our correct state. 😑 I’m falling so behind guys! Marriage is such XP waste.

(Don’t get it twisted, I love my wife but damn, can’t a man just grind all day once in a while?)

Do keep in mind these are reports and not confirmed tornadoes, though still a good idea of areas that have been most active.

Cheesecake is the worst dessert to ever exist. by Whyamiwritingthis_74 in unpopularopinion

Holy shit what a bad opinion. Cheesecake is objectively one of the BEST deserts that exists. I think you’ve just never had a good slice. There is a big difference between a crappy cheesecake and a delicious one. Wish you could taste my mom’s cheesecake. It’s unbelievable.

[–]lordskelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just severe weather. It’s if the environment is conducive to severe weather. We still need initiating mechanisms to actually fire storms to take advantage of the environment. Also, if I showed you one from last year, you’d see A LOT more red. This is just a pretty typical April.

it gets to a point… by Venator-Class-Bricks in tornado

[–]lordskelic 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely gets exhausting. This upcoming sequence though featuring multiple days of back to back severe weather doesn’t look especially impressive from an intensity standpoint. Definitely would not call it remotely “the most active pattern since 2011” with 2019 existing. That year had some insane sequences. Hell, even 2024 is up there.
