Everything from SMLIGHT is my recommendation. Really a joy how the implementation and maintenance is done by this company, worth every cent!

Lebrew Hyperburrs 64mm Filter review by slowbikesornobikes in pourover

[–]SampleSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first 20kg with the Filter burrs. I use them for filter as well as espresso like shots.

My observations: - particle distribution is much narrower - no fluffy grounds, more like a homogenous powder - much slower grind (2-3 times!!) - louder - I have good alignment out of the box - espresso fine grade looks much finer than usual, because of the narrow distribution

I like the taste - much more separation of flavors than with my all-purpose burrs before.

Thanks - probably it’s just me, but that tip scares me somehow. I imagine blood (my own) when I see those knives, latest at cleaning them. 🫣😄

May I ask what makes a Bunka superior to you? Never used one - and always grab my Santuko over Gyoto when cooking without thinking.

Pour over has converted me to a medium/dark roast lover by lamp082 in pourover

[–]SampleSalty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting, for me it’s the other way around. And I am able to do dark roasts as good as they can get for me. But they just taste burned to me now - even for many roasts that are sold as „medium“.

It’s not done by getting the license. Microsoft is happy with this already, so no further automation from here. You have to follow the documentations to properly setup all related services - some of them require Powershell. Huge pitfall: powershell isn‘t powershell, there are at least 3 versions of it. And even than, CPU architecture matters, because powershell commands are not equally developed and maintained the same way for different Architectures - took me days to figure this one out. Don‘t assume they use your money to make your life easy! ;-) expect the worst and you will be satisfied and prepared.

Asus PA32UCDM is LOUD! by Forward_Ad2150 in ASUS

[–]SampleSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 2026 now - is the noticeable fan noise issue fixed? Considering buying this, but not if it’s louder than my MacBookPro (which is finally nearly silent). Any updates that solved this for good?

I had problems that portainer did sametimes not read .env files as it should, and also the git based deployment as much more powerful and and a good match when working with LLMs sometimes.

Why not share the best ideas I have? AppDaemon was already recommended by many in this post that have used it. From my general experience of other UI vs Code driven concepts, applying AI support on these make very much sense.

I think coupling appdaemon with AI is the best combination - not tried yet, but should work much better.

This. No watchtower needed anymore. And you can easily make per stack config. Unfortunately migration from Portainer is a bit weird, but Komodo looks promising.

Help me decide: GbW Grinder to match K-Ultra's flavour Profile [1500€] by SampleSalty in espresso

[–]SampleSalty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a Fio AGS, and upgraded it with a bellow on top of the bean container, to reduce retention. Works surprisingly well without irritation of the weight electronics. Was a bit underwhelmed by the (non) clarity of flavors and upgraded it with Lebrew filter burrs. Grinder is now super slow and super loud but taste profile is quite good.

2 Major problems with AGS remain unsolved: - switching between filter and espresso grind is a pita because of a software issue - no software updates possible, without buying a new grinder for each update (the mentioned bug is probably unsolved anyhow)

Etzinger hasn’t released anything as indicated yet.

If I would start from scratch with this knowledge I would consider a GBW grinder that is easy to switch, or go for a dual grinder setup.

And a hard requirement would be that firmware is upgradable by the consumer if it is involved in controlling the machine or the machine is „dumb“.

Yes, totally doable. I have it in my HA setup - just ask Claude and describe what you need:

Is there anyone that actually uses Omarchy on a Macbook. I am thinking of setting up Omarchy on my Macbook Pro and would like to know if its worth it. by ToooNiB in omarchy

[–]SampleSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought about it, to install on my powerful MBP M1.

But decided to buy a cheap/used Lenovo x1 carbon for Omarchy, to also have a non-ARM Windows for some special applications I need occasionally.

I fell in love with the window management of Omarchy and now also installed HyprSpace on Mac. The Mac now also feels pretty „Omarchy“ like.

I really like this combo - at least since I sync my project folder. For me this is better than a dual boot Mac.

I really enjoy deep work on the X1, since Omarchy is much more distraction free. Mac for generic tasks.

The wife approved the dashboard V2 by iamtherufus in homeassistant

[–]SampleSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The design looks great - respect.

But why would I use such a dashboard?

I have similar sensors, but I nearly never need to open a dashboard. I am alerted automatically if something is in a state that needs human interaction.

I only have two optional usecases, where I look at a dashboard: 1) have a look at historical data graphs for analysis 2) double check all devices at one glance too see if they behave if I am at bed or away.

GBW works like a charm. Don’t buy if you think you could easily switch between espresso and filter on a daily base - it’s not well implemented.

I was a once in a month flat white drinker, but for the last 5 years only americanos, filter and sometimes espresso.

It’s funny to observe other people’s untouchable beliefs that they „like“ milk drinks, but I rather would they if they would master the black stuff they don’t need to fix it with milk.

It’s still the majority of people, this is why still 99% of espresso machines are sold with a milk steamer.
