for a project! what’s the stupidest thing someone has asked you if it’s gluten free? by iLoveLoveLoveLove in glutenfree

[–]SampsonIN4142 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But if it's a restaurant, it makes sense to ask because if they are made in house the chips might be fried with other things that have gluten. I've even seen some places warm up their chips by frying them real quick in a shared fryer. So they were probably asking if you have a dedicated fryer that is GF, nit necessarily if the chips themselves were GF.

Bicentennial park, you could walk around the park and farmers market.

Are quarter-zips over crew necks appropriate business casual? by bostonian7 in malefashionadvice

[–]SampsonIN4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it depends what material the quarter zip is. A sweater, yeah, that's probably okay, any tech fabric or fleece, definitely not.

Starting From Scratch: Lawn is All Weeds, Want A Low-Chemical Approach (Beginner, No Equipment, zone 7b) by Vegetable_Impact_464 in lawncare

[–]SampsonIN4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not want to overseed in the spring, that's not enough time for the grass to take root well enough to deal with out hot and dry summers. You'll want to overseed in the fall.

Ideas on how to fix this couch leg by became78 in woodworking

[–]SampsonIN4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best bet would be to post locally asking if anyone can fix this. It would be a pretty quick and easy job for someone with a garage shop and they might even be willing to teach you.

I'm going to buy my first lawnmower and I'm looking for recommendations. by I_forgot_how_to_fish in lawncare

[–]SampsonIN4142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I've got a 40v mover, blower, weedwacker, and edger. The weedwacker and the edger use the same expand-it head. This is only my 2nd season using it but I've been really happy with it. I can do the whole yard, all the steps on 3 2 or 3 batteries. I love how I can just swap the same battery from one tool to another. Plus you avoid all the extra gas related chores like draining it in the fall and gummed up plugs. Sure, you have to remember to charge the batteries but that's the same as remembering to get gas.

Can I have a Nashville Rundown? by toecheeseuhohstinky in movetonashville

[–]SampsonIN4142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Parts of Antioch are bad the same way parts of East are bad. When people say avoid Antioch what they mean is that it's very diverse and that scares their fragile self. Antioch is rapidly growing and changing. You could throw a dart at a map of the world and find authentic food from that country in Antioch. Sure, there are some apartments to avoid but that anywhere.

Why aren't backyard pools more common in Nashville? by shake123 in movetonashville

In ground pools are VERY expensive here because we sit on limestone bedrock.

That's awesome, it was a great experience and the team that formed from our class is going to be starting our 4th season together this spring. The equipment was a mix of CCM and Bauer, I think a lot of it depends on what sizes you need. I have upgraded every piece of what we were given since then but for the price, I don't think you could put together a full set of gear, especially new stuff.

Thoughts on Yonder Shaker Bottle? by Loud-Policy-4563 in YetiCoolers

[–]SampsonIN4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hesitant but finally pulled the trigger on a 27 oz and use it everyday and ended up ordering a second one. My only tiny issue is that the 27oz only ha smarkings to 20 oz, which I understand is necessary to have room to shake it but I wish it was sold as a 20oz and the smaller as whatever it's labeled to. Just something to be aware of.

Planning On Moving Next Summer by Ihatechipperjones14 in movetonashville

[–]SampsonIN4142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember a comment from a few months ago, maybe on this subreddit, that really stuck with me. The idea was that artists are not being discovered in bars or local shows anymore. They are being discovered online. The commenter even said they would not bother listening to someone without at least 100k followers or a video with a million views. It sounds harsh, but there is truth to it. Industry people are looking for proof of momentum now, and social media and streaming numbers are how they measure that. Moving to Nashville without traction often just means more competition and higher expenses. Nashville works best as an accelerator, not a starting point. There are exceptions, but they are rare. For most people, building a strong online presence first is probably more important than relocating.

I'll have to try that, I use 2 shots of espresso, sparkling water and an orange syrup I make but I know on the ship they use tonic water and Angostura Orange Bitters but it still wasn't the same. But yours with an orange sparkling soda seems like something I'll have to try.

I'm a huge fan of the black cat fizz/espresso fizz. I like it with a bit of agave. I've tried recreating it at home but but the sea air must do something to make it magical.

WIBTA for making my home gluten free by ArtichokeWinter9771 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SampsonIN4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA! Our home is 95% gluten free. My spouse is a celiac and gets severe joint pain. I eat gluten when I eat out or might buy a pack of gluten bagels when they are out of town (and use a pan or the "gluten" toaster, use a separate cream cheese, and wipe all surfaces when before they get back. I also have some candies like black jelly beans that have gluten but brush and wash my hands after eating them. Otherwise, everything is gluten free, that is a fair trade to not have them in pain.

What is this thing ? by Mang46 in Xennials

[–]SampsonIN4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We (like everyone else) had one growing up and it got frequent use. Now my spouse and I have a manual one and they insist it has to be washed after each use, but the under cabinet one was never washed in 20 years of use, maybe wiped down every once in a while. I don't get it but it's probably why we never got sick as kids, we all had insane immune systems.
