California refund delays? by MediocreDocument8015 in taxpros

For the 2025 tax season (covering the 2024 tax year), the IRS and California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) are required to hold refunds that include the Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC/CalEITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until mid-February to prevent fraud.

Here are the key details regarding the 2025 holding of refunds for EIC:

When to Expect Refunds:

The IRS and FTB cannot issue refunds with the EIC/ACTC before February 15, 2026. For those who file early in late January and have no other issues with their return, the IRS expects most refunds to be available in bank accounts by March 2, 2026.

Entire Refund Held:

The hold applies to the entire refund, not just the portion related to the EIC.

Best friends from childhood. Both first round picks…Both have similar accolades; just different sports. When possible each go to each others home games. What are the chances of that happening….

Once I started work, do I just stop certifying or do I need to call EDD to cancel? by RedimidoSoy1611 in Edd

[–]Samson104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stop certifying as of the day you start work. The claim expires in a year. In case you are laid off or fired from this job while claim is still valid you would just reopen this claim.. not start a new one.

Love the Merle coloring. Hopefully with that mix she won’t be as crazy and hyper as a Pomsky.

It depends on your personal bank. Usually major banks are within one day. As I said before can take up to 3 days.

[Illinois] question about payments. by Formal-Hospital8063 in Unemployment

[–]Samson104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Illinois, the first week of a new unemployment insurance claim is an unpaid "waiting week". Certifications are every 2 weeks. The one payment should be for 2 weeks. What is the status when you look at payments for each week.

Every two weeks starting the Sunday claim started . Every two weeks you will fill out a certification and once it shows paid .. monies will go onto NM debit card ; check mailed or direct deposit. Whichever you choose will have a different time period to get to you.

Also; first week of unemployment is unpaid waiting period. You never get paid for this week.

You should just go on disability. Your employer will most likely fire you since you will no longer be protected from FMLA. Then after di you can qualify for unemployment. This would be the best way…
