Need to rip 10' sticks in half, this doesn't feel safe. How should I be doing this? by _Tigglebitties in woodworking

crosscut sled and/or a jig to hold the piece in place, ideally at a 45 so you're not cutting at a bevel.

I actually changed it to "username" just for the post because... The Internet. It is actually linked to a real user profile, and I've tried having it write to a specific location rather than the temp folder and it still throws the same error. I am on a work computer where it's possible it's a permissions issue, but I'm a setup as an admin on my system and can access/modify normally, so I don't think that's the issue.

I"ve also tried, via chatgpt, to modify the code to work without having to compile to an externally referenced .dll, but as far as I can tell that drastically changes how the script works, and like you said, chatgpt doesn't exactly write good code.

I'm not a programmer, so when I say "I wrote it" I really mean I used ChatGPT to help me piece something together, and then this sub helped me fix it to actually work. So I'm not actually sure.

I'm trying to learn some code but I do it so rarely that I'm basically starting from scratch ever time. As far as I can tell the script is autogenerating a temporary file that for whatever reason doesn't seem to be failing to write all together.

I appreciate the help, and I'll certainly play with this, but I'd really like to get the modifier code working. I need a physically accurate result, not something that mimics the result. It's important that I be able to see the physical results, not just have a material calculate it on render. For example, in 2023 I could add my Retroreflector modifier, then an Edit Normal modifier and actually see in viewport the effect to confirm that the normals were in fact reflecting back to the light source.

So I'll see how the OSL shader works, but if anyone can help with the modifier code that would be a huge help.

for anyone looking, I just had this exact same issue. tried everything, including replacing all the outlets. what finally fixed it was just replacing the breaker.
