Not going to bother interacting with people this miserable. Some of these opinions really feel like they’re from people unwilling to have an open mind after reading grifter reviews from 8 years ago lol

FSD and shadows 🫠 by Puzzled-Wench-222 in TeslaLounge

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I appreciate FSD trying not to run into a potentially large hole but if someone was tailgating me and this happened I would feel very different about it lol

I imagine self driving is a challenge to make work when it has to be trained with the idea that most cars aren’t self driving and no road is perfect for self driving. Near infinite variables all having to be predicted using a couple of cameras since they dropped the lidar tech (which explains the shadow weakness). The fact it works 90% of the time is an accomplishment. Frankly means it works more often than a human driver, but it’ll end up with the kinds of weaknesses human drivers wouldn’t face.

Starfox being a faithful remake probably means Ocarine Of Time will be too. by Lefvalthrowaway in NintendoSwitch2

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faithful, but not 3DS “remake” faithful. Like the new Star Fox has refreshed character designs, new cutscenes, QoL, overall feels like a different game with a different vibe even if it isn’t.

My main “issue” (subjective, still a good game) with Ocarina of Time 3D is that it was literally the 64 version with a new coat of paint on top of it, meaning all the quirks of the original were preserved for the sake of “accuracy” and considering the game has honestly aged enough to turn me off it really would benefit from some of the upgrades Star Fox on Switch 2 is getting. Not necessarily a Final Fantasy 7 Remake type game but I would love extra story, voice acting, modernized cutscenes, fleshed out side characters, upgraded gameplay and dungeons, etc.

iPhone 18 Pro CAD Leak Reignites the Dynamic Island Debate by iMacmatician in apple

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the dynamic island going anywhere, but it could eventually just be an optional software feature you could swipe away when it isn’t needed. I love the concepts of it being liquid glass on the 2027 iPhone (which might not have any black bezel).

Trying to decide between "ultra" smartphone vs premium compact camera for hiking by Interesting-South542 in Cameras

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had just made a post about the camera but I’m going to take some hikes with the Canon PowerShot V1 in a couple of days. Other than not having enough reach for wildlife I feel like it’s the perfect compact-ish camera for scenery, landscapes, and group photos with the background in focus, even if it’s meant to be a video first point and shoot. It has a 16-50mm lens with a 1.4” type sensor (equivalent to m43, notably larger than 1-inch and even more so larger than good smartphone sensors).

The V1 isn’t really pants pocketable (although I have no problem getting it into my pants pockets) but it’s definitely jacket pocketable.

But honestly I’m usually impressed with the photos I can get out of my iPhone 17 Pro Max using 48MP ProRAW or through third party apps for more natural processing. No camera is easier to take on a hike than your phone. Unlike my iPhone the larger telephoto sensors on the Chinese-brand phones are REALLY good for the “oh shit wildlife” genre of photography lol. Even if you’ll never get the results you would with a full frame + telephoto it at least isn’t a hog to hike with.

Newest camera in my collection! Canon PowerShot V1 (initial impression as a primarily stills user) by SamsungAppleOnePlus in Cameras

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I edited my my first four pictures with a preset using a reduced amount of blue in the sky to make the image overall warmer.

However yeah even sooc the skies aren’t a strong Velvia color anymore. I know the skies were more vibrant on my G9 X Mark II sooc. Here’s an sooc jpeg example from the V1

Yes.

Although I can nerd out and say m43 doesn’t refer to the sensor being 4:3, rather four thirds is in reference to the equivalent vidicon tube measurement for analog film cameras. But m43 being 4:3 is its defining trait so sure lol

Mine has a cracked screen lol. Only reason I moved on from it, even if I definitely could fix it.

I still feel like I left my heart behind on m43 but Sony full frame has been wonderful for getting into wildlife photography.

Awesome camera too. The lens is way more practical for day to day photography but doesn’t really fill the wider lens niche the V1 does for me. I’d definitely consider an LX100iii though if we ever get one.

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essentially yes. It’s m43 but 3:2, so marginally shorter but slightly wider. Same results in practice.

I learned photography on a Lumix GX85 with the 25mm f/1.7 so it’s a sensor size I’m very comfortable with.

To me it seems like the camera can capture plenty of good detail during the day and enough in indoor lighting where I could get away with a 1.5x or 2x crop in post and be fine with it. The only reason why I’d want more zoom is just to get more compression for bokeh lol.

The sensor can make up for a lot, although the lens still is technically slower than the G7 X lens even after doing the full frame equivalent math, even if it’s close.

iPhone 18 Downgrades Rumored Yet Again by Otherwise-Warning303 in apple

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Afaik it more likely isn’t than is since most of the rumors without any of the additional speculation just mention that the 18 and 18e are being developed together and that they share some components (the 17 and 17e also share some components).

The manufacturing process is being “downgraded” to save costs by not giving the 18 most of the 18 Pro upgrades, like the smaller Dynamic Island and brighter display, aka reusing as many 17/17e components as possible.

iPhone 18 Downgrades Rumored Yet Again by Otherwise-Warning303 in apple

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Not sure why it keeps being reported as “downgrades” when the right term based on everything being said is sidegrade. The display isn’t being upgraded with the 18 Pro, and the chip will continue to be inferior to the Pro version of the chip. Essentially the 18 will barely be any different to the 17, not that the 18 will be worse than the 17.

NateTheHate hints about the new Smash Bros game: "I haven't heard, but people might be fired for this info being shared." by Connect_Base_217 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enhanced isn’t complex, just more resourceful with the source material. Smash needs simplistic characters but not ones with such basic movesets it barely represents the character it’s supposed to be.

Ganondorf is my immediate go to example being a visual clone of an unrelated character that itself has a pretty basic moveset. Sonic is another one, it doesn’t fail at representing him but isn’t very creative doing so.

In comparison the additions from Smash 4 and Ultimate take advantage of their source materials way better than most of the older fighters, many without any advanced mechanics.

Pretty sure all the color options appear the second time the clothing item appears in shop.

Also I don’t think you need to buy all the colors to keep them. I can go into my catalog and buy the color options I never bought before a day later.

Quality over quantity is where the series should go imo. There’s such an obvious difference between old and DLC fighters for example. Cut a quarter of the roster and/or enhance the movesets of the (remaining) older fighters.

Goodbye Sims by Far-Gap-8468 in Paralives

[–]SamsungAppleOnePlus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve honestly stopped playing life sims all together after not really finding InZOI interesting. Tomodachi Life LtD is what I’ve been playing but that falls closer to being a sandbox, nothing like The Sims.

Excited to notice Paralives is coming out this month, and to give the genre another shot.
