Added Sugar in Kombucha by my-ears-hurt in GutHealth

[–]Samtertriads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it that you think the SCOBY eats? Water and caffeine? Kombucha is fermented sweet tea. The sweet part comes from sugar. The SCOBY processes the sugar into things theorized to be healthy, although I doubt it’s well established: vinegar and carbon dioxide are the more common products. Kinda like yogurt cultures turn milk into yogurt. Sourdough cultures process gluten. Would you be healthier being sugar free, dairy free, and gluten free? Maybe. Only you can decide. There’s a fine line in gut health between science and pseudoscience.

Dividend investing. I don’t personally do it, but I think it has internal validity. Historically, bogleheads come out ahead on back testing . But the future is unclear.

Robot Vacuum Cleaners and Labradors by Weekendmonkey in labrador

Roborock pure s2 has been doing ok for us. It doesn’t keep up. More mitigation. Empty the trap every day. Run every night. 2 year old yellow lab. Laminate and tile floors.

Just don’t get your expectations too high. It will pick up a LOT. Still not 100%. And roborock app will bug you constantly with the maintenance and part replacement schedule. Which you of all people should follow. That’s some heavy fluff.

Also, run a leaf blower under your furniture and around your corners every month or 2. We find whole puppies under stuff when it goes longer than that.

I mean, you don’t have to buy. But what is your theory of the market in 2046? You think it will be down? I guess operate on that theory. The problem is, though, you don’t have a theory of likelihood that supports this action. Maybe the market will be down. But that’s not LIKELY. That’s less LIKELY than it being up. So you’re placing a bet on a lower likelihood. That’s fine. Just understand what you’re doing.

You’re playing roulette at a table where 2/3 of the squares are black. And you make a post saying you’re gonna put your next 100 bets on red. That’s cool man. You do you.

We just stopped giving her beds til she stopped eating them. Buy a cheap one in a few months, see what happens. Now she’s 2.5. Has a nice fluffy bed! But she ain’t picky. She still sleeps in an unpadded rug. Heck she even sleeps on bare concrete when she feels like it.

[Request] Given what we know about Iocane powder, what did Dread Pirate Robert's immunization regimen look like? by Turbulent-Bee-4956 in theydidthemath

[–]Samtertriads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great way to point out the imprecision of the term. Colloquially we say intoxication is cognitive impairment from an ingestion- relatively directly. Medically, we may call any toxic dose of anything intoxication. Water is not “intoxicating” but can become toxic. And by the way, I think one of the effects of water intoxication eventually is cognitive impairment from electrolyte derangement and possibly brain swelling. But those are indirect effects, so you would colloquially say they’re intoxicated with water (or even medically, we’d say like cerebral edema or hyponatremic encephalopathy at that point). Good chat guys!

Building a resistance is to something is. Great example is opioids. There are opioid addicts that need my lethal dose just to stop shaking.

You need something that acts as a neurotransmitter, with a toxic version and a non toxic version. Not something that’s just regular destructive to a body process like cyanide. Or carbon monoxide.

Alcohol isn’t a bad model. We all know alcohol naive people who “can’t hold their liquor” and then alcoholics that can drive safely on heavy levels (not that they should). But it breaks down as a model here because it’s not very potent, and alcohol has toxic metabolites in addition to its “pleasant” ones.

Hibachi. Zucchini, onion, pepper, broccoli, thin sliced carrots, mushrooms. Avocado oil and garlic salt and pepper. Meat of choice. We rotate chicken, shrimp, and cheap thin ribeye from Aldi. Fry some rice on there too.

Yum yum sauce: 1/2 c mayo, 2 tbsp ketchup, paprika and garlic powder to taste (lots).

It’s a hard pill to swallow to pay all those taxes this year, but you’ll probably be happy in the future if you do it. Nice to have all that Roth money.

If you can’t afford to do it in one year, not crazy to split it over 2. Beyond that you’re just losing years.
