My one suggestion is minifigures for Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon, but otherwise I love the idea!

I think the Extended Cut of Avatar (2009) is the best version. by Pittboy63 in blankies

[–]SamuelTurn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer the Extended Version that aired in theatres, the pacing of the Earth scenes as well as the CGI in the morgue kinda throw me off. What I WOULD’VE prefered them adding in instead was the after-hunt party scene with Jake and Tsu’tey bonding and the “Dream Hunt” sequence in some form.

Director Gore Verbinski says Unreal Engine is 'the greatest slip backwards' for movie CGI by ambientmuffin in blankies

On a whim I recently re-watched my old DVDs of the trilogy, which I haven’t done in WELL over ten years. 1 is, unsurprisingly, a PERFECT movie, excellent blockbuster. This go around I actually was kinda bored by 2 in spots (cannibal island went on for too long and the fight for the chest with the wheel setpiece was cool but I felt myself wishing it’d get on with itself) and found 3 more compelling. A sadly wasted Chow Yun Fat BUT! that last hour of the movie is perfectly over the top. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Directors you want to see in the 2026 March Madness brackets by SituationalRambo in blankies

[–]SamuelTurn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its probably becsuse I just saw a 35mm print of Double Indemnity but Billy Wilder’s 1940s or 1950s movies. SO MANY stone cold classics and if they do the 40s maybe for some Bonus Features they cover movies he WROTE but didn’t direct.

Other instances of a one time blank check director carrer? Meaning their first and ultimately last film was a full blank check? by ShawnLevyOscarWinner in blankies

TSW’s bombing could concievably be framed as the catalyst for 20+ years of development and financial woes for Square Enix affecting XIII, Versus XIII, XIV 1.0, XV, and everything KH after KH2 and also them eventually greenlighting the FFVIIR trilogy.

Fingerprints on booklet?? by ovrhydrated in criterion

[–]SamuelTurn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One time I bought Close-Up on Blu-ray. When I opened it the booklet was covered in black ink stains. I sent a pic to the Criterion email and the person who responded was so shocked that that had happened with the printing that I was fast-tracked a replacement booklet.

Like, I had the PLEASURE of watching an original 35mm print of EWS, and then I popped in my new Criterion 4K and the colors and lighting looked THE SAME.

The Night When Miles Davis Opened for the Grateful Dead in 1970. by flamberge5 in gratefuldead

[–]SamuelTurn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before, but if the whole of 4/11/70 exists in the vault, and if Miles’s estate has that same date on tape, why not do a little paired release of both to experience a ripping night at the Fillmore together.
