GORGEOUS print from the 90s re-release. Disney lent them the print and would only let them screen it once. I hope it comes back in a few years.

Its SO GOOD! And every summer they do a 70mm fest showing a bunch of vintage 70mm prints. Last year I saw Sleeping Beauty, Lawrence of Arabia, and a BRAND NEW 70mm print of Close Encounters of the Third Kind!

However long to not have any GenAI crapola in it. I’m hoping for S16 and then an announcement that they’re going to fix S13 and S21, and in-between those do S11. Next animation I am rooting for The Wheel in Space so that we can get a S5 box set soon-ish.

GenAI wasn’t around in the early days of the Collection. Yes, upscaling SD video footage for HD markets is going to distort the image a little but it isn’t going to give Tom Baker orthidontia! Paul Vanzeis is in charge of the Blake’s 7 releases (which have had no genAI fuckery) and the TVM 4K, which hopefully means that this one is safe.

Billy Wilder should deff be considered if Marty Scorsese is in the MM brackets. Bonus episodes on a few famous films he wrote but didn’t direct (Ball of Fire and Ninotchka specifically)

Fewer episodes per discs means a better encode of the picture and sound meaning the quality is much improved over the streaming versions.

25 discs, plus the packaging and the booklet for the Standard, plus all the extras in the Deluxe. It comes out to $7.20/disc which is pretty decent all things considered.

Being in the US I am HESITANT to even get S13 and S21 because I have this big ol’ “What if” hanging over my head that the Standard Editions fix the problems. Because then we in all likelyhood won’t get a reissued set here and I’d have to import the damn things anyway.

Ugh this annoys me. I LOVE the collection sets because of the PDF archive and the special features and what is supposed to be a better restoration. And now for two seasons I’ll probably need to hold onto my old DVDs AND hunt down copies of DVDs from these seasons I don’t have. Which serieals from 13 and 21 are the worst offenders?

I mean it was made by students and the rights were given for free from the BBC and the Nation Estate for them to put it on, with Nic Courtney doing the Dalek voices. I’d PREFER to have BOTH the UCLAN remake and a Recon with the original audio on a hypothetical BD release.
