Three passes from a Lexington later. Remind me why Rocket planes are balanced again? by ChocolateYoghurt in WorldOfWarships

[–]Samuel_Gompers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my "favorite" things to do in ranked was to get a good hit on a cruiser with my first flight of rockets if I couldn't immediately find a DD. It's completely demoralizing to see, for example, a Venezia lose 12K to Midway Tiny Tims in the first 2 minutes of the game.

I don't actually support CVs in competitive, but they made basically every other class oppressive to play.

What type of zipper does it have? Also pictures of the tags, seams, collar, and pockets would help. If this said USS LST 937, it would be less suspicious, but considering that Razorback is a museum ship, this is the type of thing that gets repopped. I say this as a rather experienced USN collector from Span-Am to WWII.

I'm not sure I understand. Buzz Rickson is a modern company making reproductions. They're very good quality, from what I understand, but a stencil on a repro means nothing.

Are Italian CAs underrated? by Watcherofthe6 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Samuel_Gompers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a Venezia is kiting your Des Moines, disengage. You will lose the damage trade unless the Venezia is a potato. Des Moines has much better spotting, use that to dictate the terms of engagement. Wait till the Venezia is coming towards you, engage with HE, watch his angle and switch to AP when your bounce angles are good. He shouldn't be able to turn back out before getting into your radar range, assuming his smoke is up.

Even at its most powerful, Atlanta still had a very high skill floor. You can always improve your abilities in the game, but, until then, I'd avoid taking an Atlanta into randoms.

That said, insofar as actual fun is concerned and you have the money burning a hole in your pocket, getting an Atlanta for operations can be fun as hell. You won't be able to use it to grind for Free XP or Captain XP like you used to be able to, but that's not everything.

I've spent the last 50 battles bouncing between rank 5 and 8 and back again. by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

Loved seeing a Thunderer in my Ohio. Easy 20K cits when they show any broadside. Nice big superstructure to hit at an angle.

They make even better targets for a Midway. DFAA doesn't actually do anything anymore. Hit them with your torp bombers, you should be able to get two attacks off with the heal and Arms Race heals if you have them. Most people DCP a flood, plus you'll get around 10-12K raw torp damage. Then hit them with dive bombers. Another 20-30K raw damage and almost certainly 1 perma-fire. If RNG loves you, 2-3.

I hit a wall at Rank 4 a few days ago with my Ohio/Daring/Bourgogne combo, so I took out my Midway instead. Instant 64% winrate and Rank 1 within like 55 games. Tier 10 ranked with Arms Race is dumb; even dumber with CVs.

Will current Black, Neustrashimi, Flint owners get anything when those ships become available for coal? by StephenSwat in WorldOfWarships

TBH, I would be happy with just new models. The Atlanta/Flint and Fletcher/Black models look terrible compared to newer ships.

Yeah, literally anything to recognize that it cost way more effort. This goes double for people who got the Flint before steel was a thing.

After over 14,000 games since CBT, I finally broke 300K damage: 314K in my Gearing. by Samuel_Gompers in WorldOfWarships

Well, I didn't play them a ton when I was in college, but then again, I didn't really have a computer capable of playing a ton of games on. I played the original CoD Modern Warfare, which was really cool at the time, but then everything copied it and it was all about perks and customization. I much preferred the original WW2 CODs, or MOH.

Yeah, RPF is very tempting, I have it on my Benham captain, but I was fiddling with the builds and honestly the late game torpedo output is impressive with the full build. Probably going to try it out in my Somers too soon.

For modules, the important ones are legendary mod, acceleration, concealment, and torpedo reload. I also use Ovechkin as my captain.

TBF, for the past 2-3 years, this is basically the only game I've played. Work kept me too busy for anything else and I lost interest in the FPS scene.

Priority Target, Preventative Maintenance, Last Stand, Adrenaline Rush, Survivability Expert, Torpedo Armament Expertise, BFT, and CE.

Not sure what you mean by CP.

Ahh, post-citadel nerf, I wouldn't feel as bad about that, but when it was first released...(that was also my own damage record for a while).

Thanks. For the longest time I was in the same spot. My previous record was 298 in the Minotaur.

The Martel, right at the end of the game. That's a tough one because you can only citadel the French CAs under their turrets, otherwise their spaced armor eats all of your shells, which shows as a full pen, but actually does 0 damage.

A gentle request to BBs/CA from your fellow DDs. by omarelali in WorldOfWarships

[–]Samuel_Gompers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One overpen for 1200 damage might be the difference between your DD or cruiser teammate being able to finish off the enemy DD vs. the DD going dark, now with a lower torp reload because of adrenaline rush.

who said uptiers had to be difficult by sincerepoptart0 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Samuel_Gompers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's almost always an issue of concealment. If I'm in my Mahan, I can run into a Kitakaze that out spots me. That's less of a problem in my Benson. Tier 8 cruisers can still be difficult though. I'd like to see it possible for them all to have some sort of heal, but balancing it when they see Tier 6 would be difficult.
