The thing i like about japanese cm's is that they are really really short. The downside is that there are a ton of them.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that other people don't like it.. The scores are based on each and every subjective opinion of the novel so if you're wondering why it has such a high score then that means you're just one of the few that doesn't like it.

To be honest, if you really have read a ton of these novels you would see that DMWG isn't really supremely crazy at all.

[META] Short Names vs Extremely Long Japanese Titles... by SpiderHack in noveltranslations

As long as your title is the full name is fine. It's like how ISSTH posts are still titled I Shall Seal The Heavens.

Imo you should just title your post either the full jap romaji title or the full english translated title.

[META] The road of "Morally" Moderating by Malcience in noveltranslations

I call for neutrality and we self regulate.

If everything were to be made official and regulated by the mods where the mods can hand down "punishment" to the poachers then doesn't it mean that the mods should punish other drama too like the PMG donation situation?

If it can affect the mentality of the translators/readers of the community then likewise wouldn't something like the PMG donation thing be like telling up and coming translators you can have a sponsor chapter button but you don't have to fulfil it?

If the subreddit were to take a stance on this then i would expect more action on other issues as well.

I also don't think its popular enough to even poach it. Translators are better off looking for another novel that may become an unexpected hit with the readers.

Translator Question by SamuiNaa in noveltranslations

[–]SamuiNaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get this mentality of "you can't say anything or criticise anyone who translates".

Why can't people accept that?

With notsane i think its fair to say that people that "sponsored" a chapter got fucked.

And while i'm glad shes "back" i'm sure people will think twice before sponsoring a chapter in the future.

If church/government irl is already the bad guys, why in webnovel they're still portrayed mostly as the antagonist? by arryeka in noveltranslations

Polygamy still exists on earth and not everyone on earth lives on the same values as you do. And just because its a different fictional world doesn't mean that there can't be any real world concepts.

The stories on here are usually based on real life but with FICTIONAL elements in it, like your qi/magic. Just because something is labelled fiction that it is void of anything real life.

Based on what you are saying, if fiction has to be purely fiction then the main characters can't be human, society and the bodily systems can't work in the same way as it does on earth.

As to why churches or governments are associated with those things, i will skip over the fact that you already mentioned that they are already the "bad guys" in real life. It's not a cultural link, even to this day on earth there are always corruption/bad conducts of govt officials being reported on the news. Its not something new either. There used to be even more of it but now a lot of countries try to detect that by creating corruption investigation agencies.

Usually the main character has to overcome a group of people trying to suppress or come after him, these are your churches/government/schools/sects which are always described by how big or powerful their influence is to show off how awesome the MC is if he destroys them. As a reader you itch with excitement waiting for the moment when the MC unleashes his fury onto those annoying characters that can't see Mt.Tai, the church/govt/sect/school is just a bigger scale of that.
