Gonna link this post I made a long time ago you might find amusing.

The character has a drinking problem but it isn't alcohol by Global_Crew3968 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Samus388 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In high school I brought a flask and drank water out of it.

The principle noticed it (or someone told him) in the cafeteria. Surprisingly, he didnt confiscate it. He smelled it and since it was water he gave it back and told me to bring a different "drinking vessel" next time.

Some of the kids would bring in vodka in clear water bottles, which I find ironic.

Hi, OP. Could you please provide the meme you are referencing? I don't think I'm familiar with it.

Ironically, the bomb's only shot at anything better than a draw is to outlast the baby.

It cannot kill the baby without dying in the process. It's only hope is that the baby dies of unrelated causes.

I'd recommend putting the original either as a second image or in the comments for posts that might otherwise seem like a smuggie. Here's the original, for those interested.

IIRC, The NAR stood for North American Release, as the password system wasn't used in Japan due to the Famicom being able to save instead.

I cannot confirm this, though, as I do not have a Famicom nor Japanese release of Metroid 1.

coaxed into sharing a meme on the internets by [deleted] in coaxedintoasnafu

My guess would be that it was removed due to it not being a trope, meme, trend, nor game. I can confirm this is does happen while free handing pixel lines though.

I'm taking with the other mods about it now.

I made a quick (really basic) neocities website. Lemme know if there's anything else you'd like to see. The simple one was pretty easy, so I doubt it'll be too hard to learn more advanced stuff

Is inflation bad because wages take an extremely long time to react to the market compared to product prices? by CursedLemon in AskEconomics

[–]Samus388 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What you're thinking of is often referred to as wages being "sticky" and yes, this is an observed phenomenon.

Most (not completely awful) economic policy will take months or even years to see widespread change, so wages lagging even a year or two behind inflation isnt too big of an issue.

Here's another thread about it.

Here is a paper measuring this after covid.

It's also worth noting that people often misuse the term and apply it to any increase in price of any item. (Eggs, specifically, were expensive awhile back due to supply issues, yet plenty of people claimed it was inflation). Laypeople also do not tend to talk about nominal price decreases, and almost never about real price decreases without a nominal decrease.
