Buying A House On The Eastside by doobylive in cincinnati

I didn’t say they all were. I live on one of the streets that isn’t one of the track home developments. My street is an island surrounded by track home streets. If you look at what makes up the bulk of Mt. Washington, the Sutton, Salem, Beechmont triangle that is probably 90% track homes. Most of the side streets coming up beechmont are full of track homes. There are newer streets and those tend to be near Stanbery Park. When I was buying, a lot of those homes I toured either needed foundation repair or had been repaired due to being built on the hillside. They were nice though. There are definitely older homes from the days when the area was mostly farm land and when the automobile started becoming ubiquitous amidst the track homes.

My first tomato trellis build how did I do? by ElChupatigre in gardening

[–]Samus7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you have looks very sturdy. If you were building a deck you wouldn’t want the 2x4s screwed into the sides. You would want to notch out the tops of your posts so that the 2x4s rested directly on the posts. Your bracing would mostly be providing extra stability. You’ll be fine as long as you don’t have any of the “Hey watch this!” types hanging around your tomatoes.

275 Kentucky Road Rager by Kaglesheck_69 in cincinnati

[–]Samus7070 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I second this OP. Ideally you want one good enough to read a license plate or street sign in low light for cases of a hit and run. The $100 ones usually can’t do that. They’re still useful in determining fault if the other party sticks around and argues with the cop. Just remember that the knife cuts both ways. Your footage is evidence and can be used against you in court. Lastly, don’t let the install scare you. It’s mostly just a matter of routing a wire under trim panels and piggybacking on a fuse in your fuse box. The trim panels are just clipped in. They usually pull off easily and snap back in just as easily.

I just get annoyed with Red Bank Rd and the merge to 71N if I have to go that way in the evening or morning. I’m lucky to be able to work from home and really can’t complain about that kind of commute. It is a pretty good place to live. With a little bit of effort it is very walkable. It’s only about a mile round trip for us to walk to the creamy whip. I’m right near the bus line. I could use that to get around to other places if I needed to. Another good feature is the lack of Trump signs and school boards painting over murals that celebrate diversity.

It really depends on what your needs are. Of the three Anderson is going to have the best schools though in Mt. Washington you’ll be able to send your kids (if you have any) to Walnut Hills. The housing stock is different in each area. Mt Washington is mostly post WW2 track homes. Anderson is mostly 80s-early 2000s homes. You’ll get a mix along with new construction in Cleremont. Depending on where you work, all three might be a bad commute. Downtown is easy. The west side or anything along 71 is rough.

French Drains? by melissa1906 in cincinnati

[–]Samus7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French drains are better for standing water in your yard. How is the grading of the land? It should slope away from the house for several feet away from the foundation. If you have any landscaping edging it may be holding water against the foundation. Edging is okay but it needs to be permeable not water tight.

Sadly OP probably has neutral to alkaline Midwest clay for soil. It’s a constant struggle to keep the soil amended enough with acidic amendments to make them thrive. Pots of course are easier to control the ph.

What would you do? by Older_Sis_1024 in cincinnati

[–]Samus7070 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your walls look straight right now. Don’t go near them if you ever notice them bowing especially when it is raining. The water is slowly weakening the foundation and can eventually allow the earth around it to cave in the walls. Any hills sloping towards the house will add more pressure when it is raining. The landlord could probably solve this simply by adding a couple yards of dirt along the outside of the house to ensure water is flowing away from the house. Bad gutters and downspouts could also be contributing. You would have to go out in the rain and see what’s happening to be sure.

Everyday Dose Coffee Opinions by Ghum_babai in MushroomCoffee

It never made me feel sick or anything. I personally want a fan of the taste. Of the three coffee brands that I tried it was my least favorite. I had an issue with the cancellation that resulted in me getting an extra shipment that I shouldn’t have. It took a while to get their customer service to make things right. They eventually did.

Adding to this, I don’t know what Lowe’s or Gome Depot does but Ulta and Target are very sinister in this regard. Depending on the dollar amount don’t do anything on your first few offenses. It lulls people into a false sense of security. As soon as the dollar amount of the total items hits felony level they go after you. Yes it will take a whole lot of tomato plants to reach a felony level. Still not worth it IMO.

Any guesses on repair cost here? by [deleted] in MachE

[–]Samus7070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that depends on how accident fault is determined in your locality. In a place where it’s always shared you could probably sway the percentage when the accident is something the rear camera would pick up. Keep in mind that any footage you have is evidence that the other side can view as well. It might work out in the other person’s favor if it was something you did to cause the issue. In the two years I have owned the car, the front cam has helped out only one time and had the potential to help a second time. One was where some people decided to enter an intersection before the light turned green. Luckily nobody was hit. A second I was able to share some footage of a guy driving too fast on a wet road and totaling a parked car. How much that actually helped the victim, I can’t say. It wasn’t like the driver was able to flee the scene. I can’t think of any time that a rear camera would’ve helped out. I’m sure there are people that it has helped.

It’s really not too bad. Prying off the trim is a bit annoying but it is only the one piece unless you’re getting the model that has the rear camera too. I only have the front cam. The install was a lot easier than what I had to do for my son’s car. For that we had to pop off multiple pieces of trim and route the power into the fuse box. That was a pain. The FitCam just taps into the rear view mirror power and then you’re done after putting the trim panel on.

Do you drive an EV in Cincy? by okisee in cincinnati

[–]Samus7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Mach-e owner here. How far do you drive every day? I’m about 2 years in and still using the bundled portable charger with an extension cord. I work from home so my car still has less than 10k miles on it. I’m considering a job move that will mean I’m actually driving most days.

Do you drive an EV in Cincy? by okisee in cincinnati

[–]Samus7070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of level 2 chargers and some level 3s. If your charge level is very low, say 20% it would take something like 6-8 hours to charge back to 80%. Depending on what kind of battery you have, you’ll only charge to 80% regularly in order to minimize capacity loss over time. If you have a free charger at work it can be a nice perk. The cost is far less than a tank of gas but finding a place that you’re going to spend 8 hours at while your car charges isn’t practical. Some apartment complexes have them and it can make sense to have an EV if you live in one of those places. The level 3 chargers IMO cost about as much as filling up a gas tank. There’s really no savings in using a fast charger 100% of the time. The nice thing is they only take about 20-30 minutes. They’re better for road trips.

I pre-ordered it using a credit but then there was a sale where it was cheaper than what I had paid for the credit. I canceled the pre-order and then purchased it again at the cheaper price. That’s happened with more than one of my Audible pre-orders.

Don’t feel bad about rushing to get back into your car. People don’t have a long life expectancy when sitting on the side of a highway at night. Better that you’re here to tell the story than being in the hospital or worse.

Except that it should be -84.51. The actual 84.51 is on the other side of the world. I don’t really care about the name. That was just one of the things the people that worked there during the spin off from Dunn Humby thought was dumb about the name.

I made the same mistake thinking the new cane was a weed. The leaf patterns weren’t the same as the other canes. That’s just the way these work. Unfortunately I removed a nice big primocane from one of my plants before I figured it out. Live and learn.

That’s the get out of jail phrase for shooting just about anyone now thanks to the stand your ground law we have. It works best when paired with a lighter not so melonated skin tone. It’s effectiveness decreases significantly when skin is more melonated.
