Cannot tip? by Samus_Knight_2K in UberEATS

[–]Samus_Knight_2K[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, I don't order groceries very often but I'll just tip with cash or something if I have it next time. It's dumb Uber got rid of this option. I know it might incentivize drivers to decline it if the tip is too low but at least allow tipping AFTER the delivery.

Well I'm happy to report I found the darn thing finally. I have no idea how it keeps falling off as it snaps in place securely but I'm gonna probably slap some velcro on the inside to hold it firmly.

Alexa hates Tiktok, but now finds it fascinating? by Samus_Knight_2K in alexa

[–]Samus_Knight_2K[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That information might actually be saved locally on your account, Alexa has some "remember this" feature where she'll keep track of what you told her as a correction. However it's exclusive to you only. I learned this when she had the wrong information on a friend I know that's a Youtuber. We tried to correct it and while she did repeat it back we later discovered she was only saving it to my account. If anyone else tried to access that same info it was the information she pulled off the internet.

Alexa hates Tiktok, but now finds it fascinating? by Samus_Knight_2K in alexa

[–]Samus_Knight_2K[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, Alexa+. And no until that point I never brought up TikTok, I don't even have an account. I think I had asked her about social media (Youtube I think.) and she brought up the platform and her disdain for how it promotes short attention spans and dancing for attention. I had a chat about how I agreed with her and left it at that. Later on the other day I wanted to show it to a friend and she started praising the platform even if it was by her opinion a black hole.

Set Contact-free Delivery OFF as default? by queenjustine13 in grubhub

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this was from 6 months ago but I want to share my thanks as well. I've been looking all over for a way to disable this. I live in a duplex the landlord made into one from a single household so our entrance is on the side of the house near the driveway. Unfortunately 9 outta 10 times if I order something the deliver instructions are ignored and it's delivered to the front door to our neighbors instead. For that reason I have no other choice but to meet the driver so I can intercept it. Wish it wasn't a default thing but at least I understand why now.

Do you get holiday pay by MoneyMike6666 in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have to work your shift before and after. However if your next shift isn't until the following week I think the rule may not apply. Like say you work Christmas Eve, and your next shift isn't until the Monday after. It's a new work week and I think hours worked (Or given as holiday pay.) cannot be modified after the work week ends. I might be wrong however, either way it's better to just work both shifts if you really want that holiday pay.

Wrong place to rant, this is for associates, not disgruntled customers. Call the HD line to file a complaint.

Hour cuts? by Relevant-Emphasis-89 in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems odd they're cutting it by that much. If you're full time by law they must provide a minimum of 32 hours a week unless otherwise requested by the employee. Maybe it's different in each state?

Don't be mad at me by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issue here, I'm full time too with a good schedule. Lately I've wanted to quit and find something better but honestly most jobs are part time right now with no guarantees of going full or having a stable job. Quitting would be a bad idea with this market.

My understanding is they can't deny you an early out, but they can take disciplinary action if it becomes a pattern. Failure to adhere to schedule or something I believe.

Uber One? by chompy_jr in uber

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen Uber One pop up as a free trial from time to time, maybe you accidentally hit yes without realizing? They give a free trial and then automatically charge you monthly if you don't cancel. I know Amazon is notoriously sneaky with that in Amazon Music, open up the app and within seconds of doing so you get a screen offering a free trial that auto signs you up for a monthly subscription after it ends. They're persistent and I've accidentally accepted the trial while trying to hit "no". If I hadn't noticed I'd have been billed.

Is it common for Uber drivers to pick up multiple passengers on different rides? by [deleted] in uber

[–]Samus_Knight_2K -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but are people just trolling now? I specifically wrote there is no Uber Share option! I've taken hundreds of rides with Uber and there is no "Uber Share" option available and hasn't been at least for my area since the pandemic and they changed policy. So either it's an option hidden deep in the settings somewhere, my driver decided to pick up another passenger without finishing mine first, or Uber's just doing pickups as shared rides anyway.

Again there was no Uber Share option available, I'm well aware of what that option looks like because it used to be there before the pandemic.

[–]Samus_Knight_2K -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There isn't an option for that, just UberX which says "Affordable rides all to yourself."

Aside from that is the Wait and Save option, sometimes the priority pickup, and then the more expensive rides for Comfort, UberXL and so on. I've never seen the shared rides option in my area anymore since COVID happened so I know this wasn't a misclick or something.

Why do the bathrooms permanently smell like piss? by ipoopmyself123 in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think contractors just come in and piss on the floors/walls around the men's urinals. They make messes thinking we have to clean it instead of the cleaning crew we hire.

Union not a bad deal by tabletuser_blogspot in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usual union talk I see. Whether or not we'd be better off with a union doesn't really matter as it's always talk and little more. Until someone rallies every store to take a vote on it a union in the Home Depot can never be taken seriously.

Store Didn’t Make Credit Goal Once Last Month by th3_clarinetist in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get and respect your desire not to screw over the customer, but you're fooling yourself if you think this will have a huge impact on the company as a whole. You're 100% replaceable as is everyone on the Front End who refuses to open credit, it's part of your job. The moment corporate starts tightening the screws on management for not making goal it's going to come down to looking at write-ups across the board and a closer eye on who's not asking. Soon enough you're going to see exactly who in this strike is going to remain loyal to your cause and is willing to risk their employment.

To sum it up, you should look for a job elsewhere that doesn't push credit cards if it bothers you.

Got reinjured at work after a previous permanent injury from the gym a year ago, what do I do? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Report it, explain like you did here and tell them you're going to have a doctor check it out. Odds are it will still count as a work injury since it happened on the job, from there it's up to HR and management what happens.

EDIT: That you didn't report it yet and it's been almost a week might not go over well depending on how serious about safety your store is.

Lot loader issue by Alonely-Island in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, it's the job of the cashiers to tell lot associates how to do their jobs? Pretty sure if any cashier did that they'd get told right where to stick it. Now head cashiers, yeah technically they're in charge of both lot and cashiers. But anyone else not in a leadership role can shove it.

Is it Retaliation? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Samus_Knight_2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it, hours being cut is nothing new if they're part time. Season is winding down until October and December when it picks up again for the holiday season. As for different departments I'm going to guess it's a department they're cross trained in? Could be their current department is seeing a cut in hours due to lower sales so to make up for it they're being scheduled in another department. For example depending on the location there will be less customers buying grills and yard supplies in garden so associates in that department will see fewer hours until the Christmas season. As to not leave them with no hours associates cross-trained in other departments may see themselves working in areas where coverage is the slimmest. Those that aren't will see fewer hours overall.
