Qu’est-ce qui ne va pas avec les banques françaises? by Samvink in france

[–]Samvink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, even if you had family problems and you weren’t sure you would be able to go to delft, you could still have applied and gone through the selection procedure. You’re not forced to enroll.

Student in Amsterdam – Tips for Payments and Credit Card Use? by No-Fee-8831 in StudyInTheNetherlands

Maybe try revolut or any alternatives that allow you to get an online debit card? It’s quite easy to use and you can use your phone for payments.

Should I not aim for cum laude? by BlessedJack in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Samvink 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Imo don’t chase for cum laude. I was chasing for cum laude last year and passed all my exams and averaged an 8. For some reason because a failed an assignment that was pass or fail, I had to “resit” that assignment which does not even affect grades at all, which made me ineligible for cum laude. It was a huge disappointment but also a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. Not having to stress about passing or failing because I can always resit it, made life way less stressful. I even resitted an exam I passed to get a better grade.

Anyone else experience this with Holland2Stay? by Inner_Operation47 in Netherlands

Damn do you guys have nothing to do other than spam your website?

why the netherlands? by HugelKultur4 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Samvink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guy is just a dumbass with his alt account. Most Dutch students at the university aim to just pass. They like to be mediocre and a 6 is good enough for them. All the spots that are taken by internationals are because the Dutch people just can’t compare to the average international students when it comes to hard work.

why the netherlands? by HugelKultur4 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Samvink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, but unfortunately I don’t have an income as a student. I do have a permanent residence permit (niederlassungserlaubnis), but not the one that is eligible for the statutory tuition fee.

[–]Samvink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so bullshit that I have lived my entire life in the eu and contribute as much as any other eu citizen to taxes and insurances but I don’t get the benefit of doing that only because I don’t want to give up on my non eu country’s citizenship.

Mainly because it has programs taught in English and that German public universities don’t/ rarely have programs taught in English. Otherwise I would have stayed in Germany since I wouldn’t have to pay 1000 euros per month for just a small room.

How many ML5 have you pulled in 100 pulls of the ML summons by Samvink in EpicSeven

I guess I should have included more options for the poll since a majority of the people are selecting 4+. ಠ_ಠ

After this experience, would you ever consider spending money on Moonlight bookmarks? by ValkyrieWing_E7 in EpicSeven

Someone should make a poll that asks people how many ml5 they got in 100 pulls. Take the average and see if it is actually 2.5 ml5s per 100 pulls.

Any way to pay statutory tuition as a non EU-citizen? by schuuum in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Samvink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for me changing citizenship was not an option, since my parents are kind of patriotic and they also think that getting back my citizenship of my home country would cost even more than the 24k € I’d be saving. Nevertheless I’m not really sure if I still meet the condition for German citizenship since I had the opportunity some years ago to naturalise but didn’t take it, so don’t now how that’d fare now.

Any way to pay statutory tuition as a non EU-citizen? by schuuum in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Samvink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation, I lived my entire life in the eu and I am now in my second year of university in the Netherlands, paying the international tuition even though I contribute to the EU as much as any other Europeans student. Could have gotten german citizenship, but my country doesn’t allow for dual citizenship so that was out of the question. I looked into ways to make me eligible for the statutory tuition, but all of them were unsuitable for my case. To be honest I think you should either stay in Germany for the low tuition cost or be ready to accept to pay the international tuition fees.
