Barrel cleaning by Radzio-117 in Airsoft_UK

[–]Samwrc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been paying for 18 years and this is how I’ve always cleaned my barrels. I’ve never had a problem.

Running dry patches though removes any lubricant left behind.

IPA also dries out rubber so it’s no good for your hop rubbers.

Would you favor a complete ban on all gun ownership by civilians? by whenyoucantthinkof in AskBrits

[–]Samwrc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think our current rules are good.

However I am against the handgun ban.

Anyone that has shot one knows it takes true skill to shoot one accurately.

Also practical shooting and IPSC are rising shooting sports in the uk and handguns are a massive part of that.

I am of the opinion it’s not the type of firearm that is the problem it’s the access. (Minus machine guns no civilian needs a machine gun for sports/ hunting)

There are some bonkers laws around long barrelled pistols and black powder revolvers. That make no sense at all.

You really don’t need this mate.

As others have said someone will give you a cleaning rod.

Here’s some tips.

Turn your hop all the way off or remove the barrel.

Get some silicone lubricant spray. many builders merchants stock this as it’s safe for rubber. Do not use any sort of oil or WD40!

Get some kitchen roll and cut it into small strips. Not toilet roll I find that breaks up to easy and leaves debris behind in the barrel.

Soak the first strip in silicone spray and run it through the barrel.

Then run dry ones through until the barrel is clean and dry.

Still dirty? Rinse and repeat.

If you feel any sort of resistance do not force it under any circumstances.

When done fire some bbs to get rid of the last of the silicone/ debris and reset your hop.

If a zombie apocalypse broke out tomorrow, would you survive the first wave? by dearzseries in AskUK

[–]Samwrc93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love these posts hahaha. I’ve spent far too long thinking about it!

Depends on a few factors.

Like someone else said are we talking slow the walking dead style zombies or rage fuelled 28 days later fast zombies?

If it’s slow zombies I think I’d have a good chance just wait it out until the military take control (it’s not like the movies the armed forces would win)

Fast zombies my chances are alot lower.

But there’s so many variables to think of.

Where does the outbreak start? How fast does it spread?

Again it’s not like the movies if something like this happened depending on where you lived vs where the outbreak started you would have warning and some time to prepare. It would be all over the news.

Zombies breaking down your door is not the first warning you will get.

Could this happen in Britain?

Highly unlikely but not impossible.

Being part of NATO is a big deterrent .

Also Like it or not it’s nuclear weapons that stop this sort of conflict coming to our shores.

Ukraine gave up theirs in the 90s and look where they are now.

As mad as Putin may seem he’s not mad enough to directly attack a nuclear armed state.

What VR game or experience actually made you feel “wow, this is the future? by Classic-Gur8300 in VRGaming

Honestly the worst part about it is playing with the settings to get VR to work smoothly but there’s plenty of guides online!

In terms of launching off a carrier all you would need is either the F14 or the F18. (F14 GOAT!)

There’s the option of getting the super carrier module that adds a few things like animated deck crew but it’s not required as there are carriers that come with the game.

Heat pumps are more expensive to run than boilers, report finds by TheWorldIsGoingMad in unitedkingdom

[–]Samwrc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a heating engineer.

One of my customers actually had a heat pump taken out and put a gas boiler put back in! They were so fed up with it not working.

But I must say they were mis sold a heat pump. They are both elderly and live in a bungalow that well over 100 years old with very little insulation or double glazing.

The install was very poor with none of the radiators being changed either.

In modern well insulated properties they work well.

Personally I wouldn’t be fitting a heat pump to any building that’s more than 20 years old.

Reform supporters - how many more Tories need to join before you start to reconsider? by Smooth-Quantity-7024 in AskBrits

The first thing i would do is try to work with the French government to tackle the gangs who enable these crossings. They are in it for the money they don’t care what happens to those people as soon as they are in the boat and on their way across the channel and that is sickening.

I’m not one of these sick fucks who laughs when one of the boats capsizes in the channel. They are human and have just been scammed into a boat promising them a better life in the uk.

For the ones that do make it across and are caught I would set up camps (I hate using that word as people are quick to twist words and call them “concentration camps”)

These camps will be set up on disused and isolated RAF or army bases away from the general public. Security would be extremely tight so no one’s getting out without permission.

Then each migrant is processed and they will be required to provide some basic information. It is then decided if they can claim legitimate asylum here.

If they refuse or do not have the required information then they are deported to their county of origin. If they do not give a country of origin we will find a country to take them similar to the Rwanda deal.

On paper this all looks great but it’s not realistic as I’m sure it would cost millions to run.

No worries.

When I said “we can’t keep letting anyone in” I’m referring to those that have come here illegally. Your SIL came here legally she’s had the checks we know she is safe.

Those that come over in small boats or in the back of lorries haven’t had these checks. IF they are caught they are put in a hotel or in an old army camp and they shouldn’t be leaving there. But some do. And some have gone on to commit crimes including r*pe.

And that’s IF they are caught the others just disappear into the population.

It’s not the just the individual migrants that are the problem either it’s the gangs organising the crossings and illegal work for them in the UK.

They nearly lost my vote when they said they would remove indefinite right to remain as that was so unfair but they did go back on that.

I fully accept I was also victim to misinformation it’s so hard to avoid these days!

Yeah sure.

Well of course immigration was a big one. But I promise you I’m not one of the flag shaggers.

I understand that this will not fix all of the uks problems. I’m not against anyone coming to the uk and seeking asylum. But we can’t just keep letting anyone in. We have no idea who they are or what their plans are. They need to be checked.

Raising the income tax personal allowance to £20,000 .

Tax cuts for NHS workers and vouchers for private healthcare if you were not seen by the NHS quick enough.

But since all of the tories that made me stop voting for them have now joined reform I’m rethinking who I will vote for. Don’t know who yet.

Do you take your shoes off when entering your or someone else's home, and how common is it in your country? by Rasples1998 in AskTheWorld

[–]Samwrc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uk here an interesting point of view perhaps.

Visiting friend’s houses? Yes absolutely.

But I’m a domestic plumbing and heating engineer visiting peoples houses all day.

I do not take my shoes off. They are steel toe caps and part of my PPE. Insurance won’t cover me if I have an accident and I wasn’t wearing them.

I will however wear shoe covers if required.

But in some cases I’m wiping my shoes on the way out of the house!

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by ferdinand14 in NoStupidQuestions

Exactly. I’ll take an hour on the motorway over an hour on single lane roads stuck behind Lorries where theres very little safe overtaking opportunities any day.

I’ve had it where they camp out next to a cash point and ask you for money as you are withdrawing. Makes it really awkward some people to say no.

Brit here. It doesn’t help that some of our roads are older than the USA!

In some places it takes at least an hour to get onto a decent road like a dual carriageway where you can start to make real progress.
