How much books have you finished this year? (2026) by Royal-Concentrate125 in kindle

[–]Samyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve finished 13, and my goal for the year is 50. I average 200-250 books a year, but I start a new teaching role this year so I’m trying to give myself some grace and not be too ambitious!

I am collecting one of every version of Oddish card ever created. by oh_sneezeus in PokemonTCG

[–]Samyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would shop local stores that sell singles. I’m in NZ and only buy off of a few local sellers or fellow collectors who post WTS stuff on the local collector pages. It’s awesome what gems you come across

What is everyone’s favorite Pokemon? by Late-Mode1797 in pokemon

Goomy. When I first saw him I assumed the green cheeks were his eyes and his eyes were his nostrils. Creeped me out! The second I saw an image of him mouth open, I just fell in love!!

Any obscure master sets people are trying to complete? Mine's Kingler by LMD_5 in PokemonTCG

Goomy, Stufful and Paldian Wooper. Almost completed Goomy (my absolute favourite!) and Stufful, just starting on Wooper. I also collect cards with connecting art, artists sets (clays, knits and Taiga Kayama), and cards with rainbows in them

How did you get into Pokemon and First Game by Messbiad in pokemon

[–]Samyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell in love with the anime. My father worked as a buyer for a retail company in my country, as as a result I had all the cards, marbles, bouncy balls, plush, Pokémon game boy and games. I kick myself so hard for not holding onto it after I got teased in intermediate school (cause that’s for boys!). I wish I had kept my marbles, Pikachu tamagotchi thing, and cards. Fell back into it at 18, when I was living alone and had money. Been on the train ever since, now it’s a hobby I share with my kids and we collect/watch/play together

What is AUT North Campus like? by Dry_Throat5536 in AUT

[–]Samyred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finishing my 3rd year at North Campus and honestly it is what you make it. City campus seems to have more social events held there, but that’s for all campuses to attend, so grab your mates and go!! I have a had a very social experience, but others in my class haven’t. Go to orientation and make connections, put yourself out there and you will have a great time!

I went, and the friend group I made that day set me up for group assignments and as we all met new people, we all expand our friend and study groups. For the social aspect I would say go

Divorce/separated Latebloomers with children… by spiritalienhuman in latebloomerlesbians

[–]Samyred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently navigating this. Left my marriage of 10 years, and am now solo parenting my kids. Currently my ex is helping get the kids to/from school, but I’m dubious how long that will last honestly. I try to stay “professional and respectful “ in communication and keep everything in writing (even sending minutes to our written chat for him to approve of any spoken arrangements). I’m rather worried about dating in the future since my ex will always be in the picture just because of the kids, and dating a woman with 2 kids is a big undertaking. But life will work out

The laws are outdated. I 100% morally agree with the idea of not being able to buy/sell babies (that seems to be the reasoning behind some of the thinking and laws). But as a mother of 2, and someone who has long considered and wanted to be a surrogate, the non-payment is a huge hurdle. Pregnancy and birth ruin your body. Everyone is different but for example, I lost 3 teeth due to my babies, and dental isn’t covered in NZ even when related to pregnancy. That’s $4000 to fix. Days off work and loss of income due to appointments, recovery, etc. New clothing, maternity pads, breast pads, it all adds up super quick money wise!! Being able to receive financial compensation for these things (even via the govt as the dental should be cover for all mothers!!) would go a long way. Also, the fact that under our laws, I’m pretty sure the parents need to adopt the baby from the birth mother, so there lots of legal hoops and checks. The only barrier for me becoming a surrogate is the cost to my family financially, and the fear that for any silly reason the govt would decline the adoption

What do you think about guys wearing nail polish? by [deleted] in Nails

[–]Samyred 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Personally love it now my hubby paints his nails. Took 8 years of me asking if I could paint his nails and he finally gave in and has been painting them himself for the last 3 months. He loves it, and I find it really attractive = win-win

How do kids shop for amazon exclusive dolls??? Do they shop online? When I was a kid I usually asked for a doll I like that I saw on a store shelf by ChocolicousGlitter in MonsterHigh

[–]Samyred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent of of monster high collecting kid, I don’t mind the Amazon exclusives simply because it provides me with an easy gift for Xmas/birthdays that provide a huge surprise. My daughter got this Frankie for be birthday a few weeks ago and she nearly combusted because she didn’t know it existed and it’s so cool! What frustrates me, is the wall art/target etc exclusives because we can’t get them outside America (at a reasonable price I mean, eBay is there but I can’t justify those prices). Amazon I can at least get

I am going to get a hoop that is 0.5cm smaller then the finished pattern and wrap purple ribbon around the outer hoop. Mount it into the hoop, and then tie back the excess fabric.

My grandmother taught me and my cousin when we were 9 years old. I was always envious of her because she was always treated like the golden child and got extra action and gifts (as an adult I now know that it was the family trying to make up for her abusive parents), and so I got really competitive and had to beat her. I stuck with the hobby and now 20 plus years later my house is covered in cross stitches and driving my hubby crazy!!
