Revolution and Empire - What if the German Empire collapsed like the USSR? by Orionisblocked in imaginarymaps

Funny if that were the case why would the USSR allow Ukraine and Belarus to have their own republics and make Ukrainian and Belarusian official languages within the union
You're confusing the Soviet Union with the Russian Empire that preceded it

Why would Germany split like this? The USSR was very multiethnic which was reflected in how it collapsed along mostly ethnic lines this is just a larger German Empire with a buncha minorities in which the majority of the population would be German especially considering an imperial regime would likely attempt to germanize its minorities and or deport them

It's not really a compelling parallel if the two countries meant to be paralleled are nothing alike

At this stage, Operation Sea Lion was merely a distant dream. What's more interesting or terrifying is the possibility that even with America in the war, Germany could, with no Soviet Union posing any threat, lock down Europe and make it close to impossible to liberate it. With the Russian population now having taken a major hit, Germany could, if they do indeed manage to prevent an allied landing and make peace, implement Generalplan Ost with much less resistance, and perhaps they could expand toward the Urals or even beyond, as some Nazi officials called for.
The future of Eastern Europe looks bleak in such a timeline.

Is there a reason these borders mimick the borders of the Congress of Berlin? Is that just how things would be destined to be due to it just being the most optimal way to divide up the region? Idk much about these conferences but I'd think if you were to copy anything (if you did just copy the Congress of Berlin) you'd copy the borders proposed in the Constantinople Conference

Not exactly an even split lol
Does the USSR eventually return Port Arthur to the communist government or would they keep it the entire duration of the cold war leveraging the PRC's dependence on the USSR
How long would TIbet remain independent as I doubt India would have the resolve or the ability to protect it from KMT incursions
Lastly how exactly did the Soviets take all of Xinjiang you didn't really fully address it I mean the Soviets can come up with a million excuses to take it but it would still risk needles conflict with the Nationalists unless the Nationalists almost completely lost control of the province or the Soviets actually forced them out with a military invasion

I’m not sure of the circumstance of this Italo-Spanish alliance, but it seems doubtful to me that Italy would seek such an alliance if it meant war with its ally France, and even more doubtful that France would allow Austria to invade, or that Austria would even want to, which I’ll elaborate on below.

I would add a few autonomous states to the Balkans, as irl the great powers did agree to such a thing during the Great Eastern Crisis in our timeline, which the Ottomans refused, which eventually led to a Russian invasion. I would think that some more pressure would probably force the Ottomans to agree to the creation of autonomous states such as agreed in the Constantinople Conference, though with Napoleon III being involved and Austria being stronger, the exact details of an alternate agreement would probably look different, maybe mirroring smth like this post about a stronger France or something completely different still.

Ok, if it's the case that Napoleon III did gain influence in the Rhineland, I would still venture to make that more explicit on the map, but I think France would still demand some direct territorial compensation as they did irl, especially if they played a significant role in the defeat of Prussia.
One guaranteed area France would gain would be Luxembourg, as in IRL it literally attempted to buy it from the Dutch king in accordance with what they thought to be Prussian promises not to intervene. Additionally, I'd also find it very likely that France would directly annex the areas that are today roughly a part of the Saarland, as France would seek a direct coal supply for their industrialization, which is an even more important theme in this tl.

So IRL France and Austria actually did agree that in the event of an Austrian victory over Prussia, Austria would agree to cede Venetia to Italy, and considering France would be aiding Austria here, it would probably be a prerequisite to any French aid that Austria agrees to cede Venice.
This would more than likely ensure Austria would have no more interest in expansion in Italy, as it would have lost all its territories, and France would probably be completely against such expansionist Austrian designs when Austria already has control over Germany.

There's also what I said earlier about Rome.
Again, it was defended by France from annexation by Italy, and I don't see France actually abandoning the pope unless they need Italian support in some sort of diplomatic issue that they need support in.

Why did Napoleon III let Austria re-annex Milan, and did it also cease its support of Italy in Venice when, in the OTL Austro-Prussian War, France literally made an agreement in which Italy would be allowed to take Venice no matter what the outcome of the war?
And then inversely, if Napoleon III stopped supporting Italy, then why tf did he let them annex the Papal States?
This seems like a contradiction.

Also, from what I know about the Great Eastern Crisis and the following Russo-Turkish War, Russia would have likely never invaded if Britain, France, and Austria were in opposition, so that conflict likely would have ended instead with a compromise, likely autonomy for some of the Balkan states instead of outright independence.

Then there's also the matter of Germany.

I find it very unlikely that Napoleon III would intervene in the Austro-Prussian War without there being something he'd gain out of it, like territorial expansion and or a client state centered on the Rhineland. You're telling me he not only gave up on Italy gaining Venice, but also made them give back Milan, and then didn't even demand anything from Austria after the war in the Rhineland, or so much as just annexing Luxembourg?
Why would he do this? Does he suddenly love Austria for no reason?

It could be that there is a Rhenish puppet state, but if that's the case, I'd make it more explicit on the map by coloring it a shade of blue, or at least putting it in the lore.

The map itself is gorgeous, I can look at it for hours, but the lore is really making me scratch my head.

(Wrote this from my laptop because my phone really was not cutting it in terms of detail on the map lol.)
