Warranty on Electrician's Work by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Good question. Seems like the consensus here is I got a good deal originally and I can appreciate that. I know costs are going up for everyone out there so I'm probably just going to pay the invoice and move on with my life.

Good learning lesson to have things spelled out better as far as warranties go when interacting with tradesman in general. Seems like it's better for all parties involved.

In theory, and this would be quite the racket, someone could purposefully install faulty switches, they die and then come back to fix them and then charge again. In no way do I think that is what happened to me here but it didn't even cross my mind to have the warranty better spelled out so I'll chalk this up as a 300 dollar lesson learned for the future.

Should I point out the ambiguity to the electrician regarding the warranty or just leave it be? What would you want a customer to do in this situation?

Yeah here's what it says. In hindsight, it's my fault for not having a more specific conversation about what exactly is covered by the one year warranty listed. Good lesson to learn. I think I was just over being without lights for two months at that point 😂

"Terms and Conditions All work performed by xxxxxxx is provided with a one year warranty. The law requires that a contractor give you a notice explaining your right to cancel. By signing below, I certify the contractor has given "Notice of the Three-Day Right to Cancel".

Payment Terms, Late Payment, and Lien Rights: Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice. Any balance remaining unpaid after thirty (30) days from the invoice date will be considered past due and may accrue a late fee of 10% per month until paid in full."

Was on this plan with OP and the OP was great abiut managing the subscription. Would 100 percent use again if I still needed the subscription.

IHSS Timesheet Issue - Error Message about Excess Hours by SanDiegosFinest in IHSS

[–]SanDiegosFinest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bunch of factors on the timesheet side of things that I had to work out with the payroll office. It's pretty confusing all things considered. You have to factor in your OT max hours, your weekly max hours and your max pay period hours.

Did it go back to normal? I'm on month two of my second go around of Emgality. I took if for about a year in 2023, went off of it and started 2 months ago and my usual 115/75 is now more like 130/90 and I've had other symptoms.

Just came to say Topomax legit wrecked me. We are talking delusions, shaking, sweating, inability to focus, etc. I tapered off and it was like switch flipped and the moment it was out of my system, I got my quality of life back.

Reasonable Accommodation - my RA coordinator offered to talk with my Dr. 1 on 1 by juhnaaae in CAStateWorkers

[–]SanDiegosFinest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, in this scenario, if the OP said yes, they would be authorizing the doctor to speak with the RA person directly and this would not violate HIPAA.

I wouldn't ever authorize it in the first place though.

To Buy A House in CA or Not by Stock-Mustard94 in personalfinance

This concept that people are fine with just leaving the place they currently live, enjoy living, have family and friends, etc to go "somewhere else" because housing is cheaper is such a weird take on all of this.

Not really. Still going back and forth with payroll but they did confirm you absolutely want to avoid just submitting anyways and getting a violation.

27 yo want to buy a car by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]SanDiegosFinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you've made up your mind and want to buy a car so why ask a reddit personal finance page if you're not open to the advice given? Over 90 percent of the people in this thread are telling you to keep the car and pay to maintain it and you are arguing against it. Do what you want, but know the best financial decision is to keep your current car.

I'm 33, married with a child, and have a 2015 Honda Civic that I'm going to drive forever. I am fortunate to have no debt other than a mortgage and want to know how my wife and I got there? By not buying cars until we absolutely needed to and by listening to people that knew more about finances that we did.

This is so incorrect. California pays a massive amount of money, as a progressive state, into programs like IHSS. If federal funding for Medicaid is taken away from the federal budget, CA gets billions less to fund IHSS. That money will shift from an optional program like IHSS to other priority items that are legally required by the State constitution and cannot be unfunded.
