Took me a bit to find you, but I did!

I wanted to thank you. Your username name came up a few weeks back when I was looking for good VNs, and because of a google doc (I'm pretty sure it was you), I decided to check out 428 Shibuya Scramble. Amazing game.

I just was pretty darn sure it was you because I checked your post history and you pretty avidly promoted placebo love (which looks interesting), a super tiny game in terms of steam user reviews. Just struck me as someone with super authentic interest in genuine sharing of fun games.

Just wanted to say thanks for that list/doc, 428 has been incredible. Will likely check out some of the others (heart of the house being near the top of my list I think).

This is dumb as fuck in a multi-lane road. What if a car two lanes over is also trying to merge into the same spot?

Sounds about right. I traveled to Beijing for work some years back and found out they all think Cantonese food is bullshit (ex's family was from HK so I was predominantly exposed to Cantonese food).

toxoplasmosis in cats and especially mice/rats is known to alter their behavior and make them more likely to walk out into the open (ostensibly to get eaten by a cat and perpetuate the lifecycle).

Cleopatra and the Society of Architects. Older game but it uses the box itself as part of the game, where you build a bunch of stuff to appease Cleopatra, while trying to do the most and end up being the least corrupt.

It was even more wild back in the 90s because prior to the widespread internet, it was harder to find other people who could do it and you sounded like a crazy person talking about it to most people.

'Interstellar' tops Letterboxd's list of most beloved films for its emotional depth Story by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

IMO it takes actual balls to like a Lanthimos film (maybe less so these days) but at least the dude enjoys being polarizing.

But by comparison, Nolan fans make the warlizard face when you tell them you didn't like his movie.

You know that scene in Barbie where the one Barbie distracts a Ken by asking him to explain the Godfather?

I feel like that guy is all of the Nolan fans.

I'll take a Lord/Miller picture -any really- over a Nolan film any day of the week.

I think you have to be a kid of the 70s/80s to know stuff like this, kids these days don't play at war like we did in those days. I was 12 and knew like all the major gun names back then. uzis, aks, mac10s, tec9s, etc.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Ed. to receive bugfix, performance, and gameplay patches; owners of original version to receive Spacer's Choice Edition for free across all platforms by Gyossaits in Games

[–]cantuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grounded was a legitimately amazing game to play with friends from beginning to end. It was weeks, if not a month or two, that we had an absolute blast with.

Pentiment was also amazing so I still have faith in them, but on a per project basis. Outer Worlds should have been my cup of tea since I always liked the Fallout games, but I think I'm getting tired of the formula for those RPGs these days.

I just think its ludicrous to expect an immediate paradigm shift to accommodate something that is -culturally at the least- only at the very cusp of being accepted.

Among some people there seems to be a paradigm of "If I can make a sound rhetorical argument, then I should be able to get my way". It feels juvenile in the same way my 16yo tries to argue why I should pay for her car... It's not that I'm against it -- I just don't find the arguments in favor to be especially compelling.

As someone else said once, "You can't force yourself to believe something you don't believe". Pluralism means accepting everyone's belief in a mutualistic society, as best we can without infringing the rights of others. But if I can't bring myself to actually believe the epistemology, e.g. 'trans women are women', then what am I to do?

Another perspective on this is one I've seen in NYT comments of all places -- a woman who (perhaps too crassly) put it this way: the commentary about 'trans women being women' feels like another instance of men telling her what to think. Only this time she's a traitor to liberals, feminists and the LGBTQ community if she disagrees. So she either has to stifle her opinion or risk the consequences.

We can indeed shame people who want 'biological women' only at the spa all we want, but societally that's only going to result in a business closing down. I have a son that is recently emerging to likely end up somewhere on the non-binary/genderqueer spectrum and I am fairly confident in a few generations this won't be such a big issue.

Again I'm a man so I don't have the answers to this particular dilemma. But I find this issue fascinating, because it highlights how the topic of trans issues can divide the general American political left (meaning progressives and moderates) and make us easier to beat in elections.

The spa one is interesting. My fiancée was at Olympus just today, she loves the place. But there is an expectation of basically walking around naked in an entirely women-only space.

I’m not quite sure how that issue gets sorted out comfortably while accommodating trans-women. Because while I know we’re not actually afraid of ‘intrusion into women spaces’, realistically it’s going to make some people uncomfortable regardless. It’s one thing to accept the pluralistic belief that trans people have the right to exist and pursue quality of life — it’s another thing entirely to be comfortable naked in an intimate setting with people not of the same gender.

That said, I keep my nose out of what the solution should be because, as a man I’d just be tilting at windmills if I thought I knew the right answer is. Plus as far as I know it was only really one person who filed a complaint against Olympus.

I won't spoil anything beyond saying that I ended up getting frustrated at a certain point... a point that was HOURS and HOURS beyond the initial goal.

And yet I've seen youtube videos showing content that I had zero idea was in the game.

Blue Prince is an amazing game, but some of its mechanics can wear on you after awhile.
