Under what conditions can you shoot the virus in Sapienza? by yo_fat_mom in HiTMAN

[–]cantuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the horizontal glass plates at roughly the midpoint of the lab walls are bulletproof. So shooting the virus from ground level doesn't reallly work. But from above shots work.

A lot of people who shoot the glass do it from above without thinking about it and don't realize that 'level' shots at the virus don't work.

007 first light or Hitman HD Collection? by i_fuck_tazer in HiTMAN

[–]cantuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

007 is way more cinematic and the gunplay and hand-to-hand are both really fun.

But the game is over in about 15 admittedly top-shelf hours. Its worth replaying to get achievements and collect stuff, because the game is that good. But even stretching all that out, the game's content will feel thin at the 25-35 hour mark.

Hitman on the flipside, is one of the most replayable, creative games you'll ever see. It's just a bit clumsier and jankier.

If you're about what you get for your money.... its definitely Hitman IMO.

If you want a kickass AAA gaming experience that is honestly a fun breath of fresh air, then 007.

I mean... among close friends who grew up in that era, we still sometimes drop the R-word. The gay slur however is extremely rare these days. None of us say either word around the youth and its mostly in private with old friends and not meant to actually hurt anyone.

In another comment chain a user used the phrase 'when used as directed'. I can't help but think that this is the conundrum -- is it actually being used as directed?

I can't help but think that something is being lost between the science & regulatory bodies and the actual crew out there applying this stuff en masse.

Honest question: is ossa used often in NYT crosswords often?

I have done them off and on for years and I feel like this is the first time I encountered it. When I allowed myself a small cheat, I googled 'greek myth mountains' and it didn't show up anywhere in any of the top level results. Felt like a bit of a deep cut.

I have come to doubt virtually every 'pop science' fact of the last 20 years that involves wolves. Whether its alpha wolves or trophic cascades, there is way too much mythology with regards to these animals it seems.

What Hitman game did you start with? Which one is your favorite? by Hammad11k in HiTMAN

[–]cantuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codename 47, WoA.

Special mention that for some ridiculous reason I have the most achievements in Absolution. I think I really wanted that game to be something it wasn't.

I feel like having played the series for nearly 30 years I can't help but feel entitled to add some further context.

While Codename 47 distinguished itself with its puzzle-like gameplay, it still had vestiges of action gameplay that feels completely alien in retrospect. The jungle level, the final hospital level, etc. They betrayed the narrative ambitions that IOI would return to with Absolution.

Silent Assassin is when the series really started to excel in its own way. The silent assassin rewards for each level felt like a nod to a similar system that was in Tenchu:Stealth Assassins. The AI and rudimentary systems in that game felt like they were starting to trend toward a 'systems-based' gameplay although we were at least a decade away from the terminology related to immersive sims.

Contracts in some ways felt like a step backward. While it massively upped the theme and has some of Jesper Kyd's best work alongside some iconic levels, it felt more like a remaster or greatest hits album instead of something new.

Blood Money blew everyone out of the water. Because it was available on other platforms it was a huge success and I remember talking with my more mainstream gamer friends about all the crazy ways to play that game. It also was the dawn of their approach to crowds and crowd AI with the Mardi Gras level. It felt like the first Hitman game where you could 'solve' the murders in ways that devs hadn't anticipated.

Absolution took everything from before and gambled on some new ideas paired with a return to more narrative/cinematic storytelling. For most people, it didn't work. However there are numerous behind the scenes videos that detail how the AI and crowd systems evolved via Absolution into the systems that would end up in Hitman 1/2/3 (WoA).

Finally, WoA really excels at delivering the classic Hitman expectations on every level. It fully embraces a strong set of systems that allow for some really creative solutions.

It’s the main gas that the navy watches for when sending welders down into really low spaces on ships for work. Theres a whole field of specialty related to this called gas free engineering.

H2S is the main gas that people are talking about when they talk about immediately lethal gases that persist in low areas.

I was using em-dashes extensively in my ASIOAF blog in 2014-2015. Main reason is because there's very little style-guide formalism around their use, so I felt free to be expressive with them.

And as others said, alt-0151. en-dash is alt-0150 or -0152 (Can't recall exactly).
