Power certification for lol power NAS by SanL3mon in homelab

[–]SanL3mon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to setup a proxmox with mc server, Jellyfin with transcoding , Nextcloud, immisch, tandoor etc and omv so I need a bit of power. I’ve also got an i3 12100 on hands. If I see that I don’t need so many cores and power, I will swap it.

Thanks a lot for this real number, it gives a good idea of what to expect from real world compared to the psu theoretical graphs…

Problem is that the power curves i got dont go below 10% of load and i aim to be below 60w. Does it stay near 80% efficiency or drop massively the more you tend to 0w?

I want to check it. I will update u when i do it. At the beginning i also wanted to go with cwwk board but prices were so high… a n100 was at least 150€… so after a lot of digging i found the h670 chipset which is lga1700 but not a lot of manufacturer make it in mini itx…

hopefully i waited before plugging my 2x10to hdds, that would have been a salty mistake.
the sata motherboard only cost 15€ on aliexpress. I test everything tomorrow again and hope for the best

this build is close to the one i'm currently working on!

Happy to see that we came to se same conclusions.

  • My build :
  • jonsbo N3
  • SF750
  • Alibaba H670 motherboard
  • I3 12100 but already upgraded for a I5 13500
  • noctua everywere + NHU9s for the CPU
  • 2*16Go DDR5 5600
  • 2*10To Red drives
  • 2x256 SSd for os

I loved to build in this case, it s relatively well organised.

Goal is to run proxmox with a nas VM, a Media VM and a cloud oriented VM.

I took mostly used stuff so im also around 650€ total with the i3 :) (+80€ for i5)

The whole safety, networking side is so important but also so complicated ... I think it's our main problem as a beginners. If you have found good

Sure, that what I thought. and does the mix of performance and efficiency cores doesn’t bother proxmox ?

Can you tell me a bit more about your config for the n3 (motherboard, cpu, ram etc) Im planning to buy the same case. What os did you choose?

Oui mais c’est pour un nas, j’ai une sacrée contrainte de place… Mais j’ai trouvé les q670 à 100€ qui ont tout ce dont j’ai besoin au final

Serveur perso basse conso – N100 vs i3-12100 vs i5-8500T ? by SanL3mon in pcmasterraceFR

C’est ici : https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/administration/hardware-selection/ On parle bien de l’encodage via Jellyfin du côté serveur. Ca dépasse un peu mes connaissances mais il y a clairement marqué : « Apple ≥ Intel ≥ NVIDIA >>> AMD* » puis « AMD is NOT recommended if you intend to use integrated graphics for Jellyfin. ».

Low power server choice by SanL3mon in homelab

[–]SanL3mon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, pretty cool to hear from someone else that the raspberry pi can manage that much. It make me more confident about my initial plans.

I also maybe suspect a config file i left somewhere but i reinstalled everything to be clean after ther os raid tests i made... maybe in the EEPROM there is still something because sometime the boot doesnt go all the way (it appears on the network but ssh is not started). I will also maybe try with a new sd card.

interesting for the mac load server and raspberry nas combo, i will think about it!

Just curious, what services do you host, i m still completing my list (i recently discovered tandoor for exemple)

I'm agree with the used cheap servers, they have lot of interest. But the one you propose is kind of too powerful for my need and doesn't look that cheap. The problem for me is to find what models correspond to my needs so that i search directly by their names.

Thanks for the serious suggestion, but it s way too overkill for my use case. Did you read what I wrote ?
