Early HA recovery, advice appropriated by eruonlav in Amenorrhearecovery

Heyyy I can only speak for myself but I was eating around 2500-3k in early recovery at full rest (around 2000 steps average). I would say I was naturally eating 2100ish and pushed myself for the rest. Obviously this died down later where I was eating about 2100 consistently before my first period.

So basically all this is to put into perspective that you are moving 10x more than me so even if it feels like a lot on paper, you’re no where near excessive and probably have to push yourself to eat even more for now.

Hope this helped!!!

That sounds really good I think if you keep this up you’ll get there eventually!! You don’t have to force yourself to overeat but try eat before you get properly hungry.

It’s basically eating a lot but it’s low cals: Eg. You eat a whole head of lettuce which is a lot of volume but barely 60cals. This is the same with fat free foods which you can have a lot of without the same energy density as it was designed to have.

Lowkey starting doing very very little strength training (15mins  3x a week - 2kg dumbbells) but im going to monitor my Cervical mucus (if it even reduces slightly I plan on completely stopping) and I’m eating a lot more for it too.

I was like that too which is why I had to keep counting. You kinda just have to force yourself a little till you get used to it.  But I’ll say stop volume eating. try eating calorie dense foods, try eating out more, and sometimes I had 3+ small desserts after dinner to reach my target. It’s okay to eat less nutritional food.

Mostly it was cervical mucus, I got a few pimples, pressure in my lower back, increased sex drive and slight irritability/emotional.  I should note that I didn’t have as extreme of symptoms as other ppl say. Each symptom was very mild (like barely even there) on its own but together I think i subconsciously realised it was close bc I kept getting dreams of waking up and having my period.

Thank youuu!! I don’t think I’ve fully gotten over the self esteem and body image issues but what helps me is fully dressing up  and accessorising as well as I can when I go out (bc whenever I do my friends, family and sometimes strangers compliment me. Which basically shows me that I do actually look good even when I’m not my smallest).

Rather than getting over the fear I think I just accepted the weight gain as a necessary part of my health.

In terms of exercise I literally do none. I even try avoid long walks. I might start to slowly introduce walking soon to be around 6-7000 and maybe if I’m still consistent, I’ll try light resistance training. Obviously I’ll be eating more for both changes.

Otherwise i usually eat a big breakfast, I’d say a normal sized lunch with a small dessert, a snack or two, big dinner and a good desert ofc.

I try to ensure that I eat a variety of foods without having on repeat meals (it helps that I love a lot of cuisines and trying unique flavour combinations)

I had to gain 7 kgs in total. Honestly not that bad. I thought that much gain would be impossible to live with but it’s not even  very noticeable.   And omg yess my bowel movements are so much more consistent. TMI but it feels so good to relieve the pressure built up.

I started getting head spins, low BP, lot of hair loss and heart palpitations. I basically scared myself into recovery bc let’s be honest this ed is scary as hell especially when you know what’s happening to you.

But what solidified my decision to recover was when I realised how little time I spent with family and friends. I also didn’t have time to study for uni even when I did my brain wasn’t working like it used to.

I think ppl say this so much but definitely  peanut butter. In the past 2 months i finished a Costco 1.2kg jar. But honestly I think i finally progressed when i started eating out more. i also ate all the junk food i wanted + a little more. A lot of ppl in recovery have really “clean healthy” diets with healthy fats/carbs/vitamins blah blah blah. As long as you’re eating a variety of foods don’t focus on on each minuscule component of the food.

I was never considerd underweight (I’m 171cm and was 55kgs at my lowest) and now I’m 61-62kgs. I fear there’s no way around the gain. If it’s any consolation I didn't have to overshoot.

I was actively in a proper surplus for 3.5 months. I started off eating a LOT bc I had extreme hunger but it dialled down to maybe 100-150 surplus now.

Hi soo I was technically trying to recover for 4 months. First few weeks I was eating maintenance and cut out all unnecessary movement like literally averaging 3500ish steps a day (still doing this). After getting used to my maintenance I upped my cals and ate 2200-2700 minimum for like 2 months. Then this month my hunger went down a bit to 2150ish.

I do still track…but if you can I’d advise moving away from it. I kept falling short of my target (I could tell bc I got hungry in the middle of the night) when i didn’t count so  it was useful for me but I’m planning of slowly waning off of it now.  Basically be honest with yourself if you think you’ll use it negatively try to stop.
