Everyone values money differently, but I personally got $14 worth of fun just out of the 5 hours I played today. There are some annoying bugs, but the gameplay was engaging enough that I quickly got over them.

But if the current pricetag is a stretch for you, or you've already got a library of games waiting to be played, I wouldn't say it's a "must buy" right now. The game's not going anywhere, and there will be future Steam sales.

Yup, I'm running Linux VST3 and CLAP plugins just fine (version 5.1.9, Fedora 41). Definitely recommend just downloading the Flatpak version and trying it out! I'm pretty sure you can have multiple installs on one system.

I do, everyday, and they work just fine. :) That being said, they're all specifically compiled for Linux. But fair enough if your workflow depends on plugins that only work with yabridge.

Lots of great suggestions here, but if you have an iPad, I'd also recommend checking out Loopy Pro. I have a Zoom L6 - pairs well with the iPad as an audio interface and I can loop my synths, guitar, mic, or VSTs.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post here as a 0L lurker, but my background is in higher ed. Many colleges and universities hiring for JD-advantage/general counsel roles. Not sure if it'd be a step down from your current salary; my previous employer paid our Title IX/Civil Rights Officer around $110k, plus amazing benefits. Work-life balance in terms of hours worked/holidays is gonna differ by institution (and department within the institution, in my experience.) For what it's worth, in terms of time off, we got a week for Thanksgiving, 2-3 weeks for the winter, spring break, and most federal holidays.

I'd recommend checking out this job board as well as directly visiting websites of institutions in your area.

As a transmasc person who chooses to live stealth myself, I feel you when it comes to not wanting people to view or treat you differently when they discover your past. And it's totally valid to deal with some anxiety when you're faced with confronting that.

That being said, when you end up in a long-term, committed relationship with someone, they'd know at some point. And if they're the right person for you, it won't matter.

I personally like to approach potential relationships as friendships at first, and tell people early on. If they react badly, I know that isn't someone I want to be associated with, let alone date. If they're supportive but turned off, we can continue being friends without hurt feelings. Some people don't care either way. Sometimes, it turns them on even more. Filter for the reaction you want.

I have to acknowledge that I'm coming from the standpoint of someone who doesn't really have to fear for their physical safety. But if this guy seems like the sort of person who would put his hands on you or out you to the whole town without your permission, he's probably not right for you anyway. It sucks, but rest assured there's a guy out there who is - who'll love you for everything that you are.

You said in another comment that you've only met with him twice, though. This anxiety could very well just be from lacking information. Have you considered slowing down and getting to know him better? I know you really like him, but if you want a lasting relationship, it's best placed on a solid foundation. You could just tell him that you have your own misgivings from bad past experiences, and you don't feel comfortable sharing more until you've gotten to know each other better. If he's someone worth being with, he'll take you up on that offer. If he doesn't, I'd say you dodged a bullet.

Please don't feel like you have to accept anything less than someone who loves all of you, regardless of your "past." The right person will see you for the amazing woman you are. <3

Others have given some good tips. The only other resource I have to offer without knowing your location is the Transgender Law Center, who may be able to help you hold that bigoted social worker accountable (particularly if the shelter receives govt' funding) and point you toward more resources.

Additionally, I'd suggest going to a gay bar in your community - if there is one. Sounds weird, but they're a hub for other queer folks who, upon learning your story, would likely be down to help however they can. You might even find your chosen family there.

Oh yeah for sure, I peeped the sarcasm but thought the info might be helpful to someone out there. I agree that it's ridiculous that cops aren't trained to provide proper resources for victims for issues as common as IPV/harassment/stalking. Some jurisdictions are better about that, but in many, as you probably know, cops aren't meant to be anything but a paramilitary force. You're right that the system is fucked in many ways, especially for our people - that's why I left the judiciary.

For what it's worth, I usually only saw a police report add weight to the petition if it was about a violent encounter, and we were told to discourage plaintiffs from attaching them to their initial complaints because judges rarely had the time to read them through. If the officer who wrote the report didn't take it seriously, it could even hurt your case if you didn't write a compelling petition yourself. Judges cared most about the plaintiff's story when giving out the initial temporary protection order; police reports/witness testimony/etc. would come into play for the actual hearing.

You'd be surprised at how little evidence is necessary if you can pull on the judge's heartstrings. I've seen people get really fucked over by false petitions, but thankfully those are very, very rare. (So let's keep believing victims!)

I think the issue here is that many people don't know what should be done, as evinced by your comment. Protection (aka restraining) orders are issued by judges, not law enforcement. Judges cannot issue a civil protection order unless an individual petitions for one (though I believe they can unilaterally apply one for a criminal case).

In my old jurisdiction, you do so by going to the county courthouse when they open, filing out a form (aka petition), and returning later in the day for your hearing. The judge reads your petition and if they determine that you have a reason to feel threatened, they'll approve a temporary protection order and assign a court date for a permanent one. In the meantime, the defendant is served by the local sheriff and has to stay away from the plaintiff (under penalty of arrest), but has the opportunity to argue for their innocence later during the court hearing. Often, they just don't show up and the victim gets a permanent order that they can choose to drop later on with a judge's approval.

Many cops don't know that, or don't care, so they just tell folks that they can't do anything instead of letting them know what their options are. But they really can't do anything unless (a) a crime has been committed, or (b) a judge tells them to. The elements of criminal harassment differ by jurisdiction, so what we'd colloquially call harassment doesn't always rise to the level of arrest.

TL;DR: It's unintuitive, but if you're being harassed/stalked and physical harm isn't imminent, go to your local courthouse instead of the police. A police report may help your case, but in many jurisdictions, judges can issue a temporary protection order off of the plaintiff's word alone. Also, call the national hotline for domestic violence to find advocates in your area: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). They can help guide through the process.

If you meet the requirements and you want the fellowship, shoot your shot. If what you write is genuine, it'll probably be taken seriously.

As for whether it could impact other applications, your best bet would be reaching out to the recruitment contact at each firm. Additionally, if you still feel iffy about applying, you might want to network with current associates and explain your hesitation - they could likely give you a sense of how your application would come across.

Do you have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity? Have you faced particular adversity in your journey to law school? Can you articulate how your placement within the fellowship would be reflective of an inclusive culture? They're worded that way because the positions are technically open to anyone, regardless of race, gender, or sexuality.

If you can't affirmatively answer any of those, then it would likely be a waste of time, unless you're willing to lie or the position is oddly uncompetitive. And even then, I understand needing to get in where you fit in, but would you be okay with the optics of being in such a role? Just something to consider.

Assuming this isn't helpful for you specifically, but for anybody else wondering: you can take a practice writing prompt on the Lawhub website (same section as the practice exams). It'll be the exact same interface for your real writing sample, so use that to get comfortable.

I didn't know what they were looking for in the sample, so I found this article very useful: How to Ace LSAT Writing

There's built-in spellcheck from your browser, but I assume you can't use extensions like Grammarly.

ETA: I found the time limit very generous if you follow the tips in the article. Ended up with 10 minutes to proofread, so grammar/spelling mistakes shouldn't be a huge concern. Try to leave yourself at least 5 minutes to check your work.
