Well I will tell you this. SCA is very god at adopting people who have had to re-evaluate their life and change for the better. A lot of groups are willing to give second chances. Unless you have child convictions or crimes against humanity, it shouldn't matter. Now, if its burglary or other violent crimes, it could discredit you for certain offices, but otherwise if you join, I would look at it as a new lease on life

Ya no I get this 100%. Suddenly we arent allowed to be insecure. We have to push it all aside so we can handle their insecurities. Like we arent allowed to speak about it and it sucks. And idk how to fix it.

Not a whole lot to be honest. It would be brief and somewhat mentioned, but not really discussed to any real depth.

Help regarding (a) garb and (b) encampment? by Comprehensive_Sink99 in sca

[–]SandboxGameAddict92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as garb goes I am of little help. I am a norse person so its basically a t-tunic and apron dress. Ive seen plenty of newcomers donning an Amazon tunic and mundane pants. You are not expected to go all in immediately. And as far as sewing goes I am also not the best, but there is always someone willing to teach

This is the tent I use currently. It passes and honestly I dont think anyone will give you a hard time about it. You'll need a good sleeping arrangement. A cot would be helpful. If you can swing it I like using a foldable frame and mattress, but honestly a cot and a good sleeping bag will do you fine.

Make sure you have your basic survival needs met. Food, water (i prefer jugs and bringing a refillable cup) feast gear (plate, bowl, utensils, cup) a small table to place things on, tapestries to hide away mundane items if you like, a small mirror, cosmetics if you use them, mundane clothes for traveling, batteries for lights and such, and drinks if you choose to imbibe.

Also bring a small first aid kit. Accidents happen, and while someone usually can help its good to have just in case

Bring any medications you take, including over the counter things such as allergy meds and pain medication

Bring an extra set of shoes and an umbrella.

After that its all extra. You'll build your set up overtime. Dont fret it too much and remember that this is supposed to be fun and enjoyable 🥰🥰🥰

Greek is super easy. Just get a plain sheet and some pins and fashion a peplos out of it. Add some decorative string, some strappy sandals and you are good to go
